The Hatton backlash is not the real issue

People are talking about how overrated he is and how he only fights subpar opposition but they are overlooking the real issue and that is the fact that he has probably done irreparable damage to his body with his lifestyle. Yes, it's been talked about but it gets drowned out among all the "Hatton is overrated" or "I'm sick of Hatton" threads.

Hatton's a good guy and certainly not worth the backlash he's been getting. The real problem is the fact that he can be so undisciplined between fights. That's part of being a professional and Hatton clearly hasn't gotten the memo there. His performances are almost assuredly the manifestation of his out of the ring behaviors so why not acknowledge the root of the problem rather than just jump on him for his fights? It's one thing for a 9-5 worker who gets wasted every night to come into work the next morning and type in his cubicle but it's a completely different story for a world-class prizefighter to drink more than necessary, get fat and then have to come back and lose the weight (over a short period of time no less)before FIGHTING 12 3-minute rounds against a guy who the rules of boxing dictate must be a live body at this accelerated point in his career. The support system around Hatton is woefully absent and it's only a matter of time before he loses a fight that he has no business losing.

my issue wit hatton is that his last 4fights he has faded badley in the later rounds. This was never the case early in his career and it shows to me he is sliding a little and HE KNOWS IT. its clear and i have watched over 25 fights Live on TV and i am convinced he only has 2 years MAX. His non-stop style is not correct for a aging fighter.

My problem is not really with Hatton, he is what he is, a faded warrior who is best at 140.

My problme is with Fraud seeking a pointless rematch with him as a way of ducking the eventual Cotto-AM winner.

Thats what happens when the quality of your opposition goes up. You cant fight at a frenetic pace like that for 3 minutes and 12 rounds. Not when your ill-disciplined inbetween fights the way Hatton is. 2 years or not its only a matter of time before the bubble bursts.

Brawlers don't last over the long-haul, which makes it EXTRA important that clean living be a part of their lifestyle outside the ring. You're being generous with 2 years. He should get a semi-big fight with someone like Malignaggi where there won't be alot of punishment taken and then take on a real big name and be compensated for it win or lose. Hatton didn't look terrible last time out but he didn't look like someone who's got many big fights left in him either.

    There is no issue.

We just have another case of so-called boxing fans being disrespectful to greater athlete's and more productive people than themselves.

hatton beat everybody he was put infront of, including Tyzu and other worthy contenders. He had the ambition to take on the best fighter in the world, he did it, he fell short, that's all. He's come back, and he's still fighting and winning. There is no issue with Ricky Hatton.

The issue is never the fighters, it's the fans.

No your problem is that you hate Mayweather, so you will find something wrong with everyone that he fights.

Would you rather Fraud face Hatton a second time or the eventual winner of Cotto-AM?

In all honesty I wouldn't mind seeing Hatton get a rematch with Floyd again..
(IF we are gurantee'd a match with the Cotto/Margo winner)
The prob is like someone said above, PBF would only be putting off the Margo/Cotto match that much further along. (Maybe waiting for them to eliminate each other?)
As time passes, it's evident that PBF fights less and less.
Floyd would be cheating his fans & legacy.

its a no brainer with true boxing fans, but many Fraud groupies are actually happy he'll probably face Hatton instead.

I dont see Fraud getting in the ring with Cotto or Margarito. . . he wont even fight the loser.

Hatton got a bit OVER RATED leading into the bout with PBF, but since then his fans have been among the most humble and objective posters of any bunch on the boards. I've been very impressed with them following the Lazcano match.

I think it should be called into question. I don't think anything Hatton did in the fight should be though, he clearly won the fight. He could have comeback and fought a Forbes level fight, but Lazcano was a live opponent. That is to his credit.

There is no issues with any fighters who are world champions and fighting reguarly. Leave Ricky Hatton alone.
