Maybe so but theres nothing stopping him fighting him now. The irony of all this is that I actually think Hatton would win.

Whew its refreshing to read a genuinly good post on here :good
I agree with ALL of it and also don't see any reason for Hatton to take a "tune-up" fight. I mean c'mon, is he not at a point in his career where tune-ups are just a waste of time (or possibly a reason to be ducking Witter)? I also completely respect Ricky as a fighter and am afraid that if he doesn't make a fight with Witter he will be looked back upon (as you said) a "flash in the pan", unfortunately. Most people should be pushing for this fight, even PBF fans

But the hatred they both have for each other may make this fight never happen, but dan b I think hatton should take the fight and knock the shite out of him. I think its down to both that the fight as never happened. I mean in the past witter as not made it easy for himself for people to take him seriously chop chop and moura and a few other fights. Whilst hatton should just remember how he got pbf, and allow witter to fight him.

Their hatred should be used as a passage to the fight not a hindrance. Dont get me wrong, I fully accept Witter hasn't helped the situation but at this moment in time it seems like the most sensible fight for the 140 division.

Agreed.................I just wonder if a fight at 147 vs Cotto would be a better option to look at for Hatton though, there would be more interest PPV stateside than vs Junior.

I agree with everything you said except the binge drinking part. Babe Ruth was a drunk and womanizer. It didn't affect his career. I think people need to stop judging athletes based on their vices and let them do whatever they want as long as it doesn't affect their training and the things they do in the ring.

If their vice becomes too destructive on their part, who is to blame but themselves.

The problem is that the argument can always be made; "what if they were COMPLETELY devoted to their sport"? Ruth could have possibly hit 1000 hrs....
and yes I realize that its the "what if" game, but it will always pop up

He'll fight junior. I think the real issue is to get an easy fight before another hard fight. He put a lot on the line and lost to PBF. Give the guy a break.

I just hope he does not fight cotto at 147, becasue cotto his a different animal at 147, than at 140. Hatton should stay at 140 and clean out the division.

I know what your saying, but the division is poor....I'd rather he stuck to what he said that he'd be looking to fight the best fighters he could and Cotto would be a ****ing tough test but Junior,Gavin and Paulie would get smashed lol....you know it's true......so where's the test.

A fight with Witter is harder for Hatton now than it ever was.

Witter doesn't have stamina, he doesn't throw many punches as it is and labours at the end of fights. Hatton would have had a massive advantage with this a couple of years back, now I have my doubts, but Hatton will still have an edge.

Witter's better now than he was a few years ago. Because of his style, I think it's taken him time to master what he can do, he also has more confidence due to a run of KO's and his first big win over Harris. Hatton has lost his 0 and got KO'd in the process, he's lost his aura.

Hatton's fought the best and lost, he knows he can't be number 1 now. Is the hunger still there? Witter's still hungry, he wants to prove he's the best in the division and it's the biggest fight of his life.....Hatton's had a few bigger fights than this and he's already proven he's the man at 140, motivation may be lacking.

I still think Hatton will win. It'll be awkward early on, but I think in the end Witter would stop throwing after the mid rounds and Hatton would walk him down and beat him, late stoppage/points win.

    I hope so.

But it must be demoralising trying to prove one minute that you're P4P#1 and then next thing you're having to prove you're the best in England!

Well yeah but that is how it goes. But even if he wins they will be saying oh it was lucky.
