Can't argue with any of that. I've been accusing Hatton of ducking Witter for as long as I can remember. Time to man up Ricky, the world is watching :yep I suspect he's waiting for Witter to start to look old so the fight will most likely happen next year. Damn shame because 3-4 years ago this would have been the biggest domestic contest out there.
Very true. But even if hatton fights witter next which his highly doubtful and beats him convincingly you know some will say he his on his way down.
I can promise I won't. Witter is still looking good right now. I wouldn't blame Hatton for taking 1 'confidence builder' in March but providing he gets through that the next fight should be Witter in the summer in a big outdoor arena. If Hatton went for that I'd stop the ducking remarks and if he won I'd give him his dues. I already give him plenty of respect for having the balls to fight Mayweather, but I honestly think Witter packs a bigger punch than Floyd and would take Hatton out quicker. That's not to say I think Witter would beat Floyd, he wouldn't.
The same thing can be said that hatton could do what judah couldn't and take witter out. Because witter would have to be fighting for a full three mins and not take his customary rounds off because hatton will catch him and it could be the end what ever happens it will be a fantastic fight.
Junior Witter is a fight that does need to happen, but I dont think Hatton is too worried by Witter. I think he wants a confidence boosting tune-up fight against someone he can dominate, so thats why were hearing names like Gavin Rees and Pauli Malinaggi being mentioned. Also think that Hatton is damaged goods, or at least not as sharp as he was. He hit his prime pre-Tsyzu and has been a lot less sharp with too much smothering his own work. Witter is a sharp counter-puncher and Mayweather has left a blueprint of how to beat Hatton that he can follow, which makes it a difficult assignment for, I think his team want to see how much the loss has affected his confidence and how much he has left after the first KO defeat of his career. Thats perfectly reasonable if you ask me. For the record I dont think Junior Witter would beat Ricky Hatton, but it would be a big UK fight and theres real animosity between the two so it needs to happen. Witter has earned his fight with Hatton now. People expecting it right now should just be patient, Hatton's the attraction here Witter is just the opponent, he's in the driving seat so it'll happen when he wants it, and he obviously doesnt want it now.
For boxing fans and for Hatton's status at 140 he should fight Witter, everytime Witter has a chance he calls out Hatton in the public aye making sure the media mark his words and we don't see even a simple response on Hatton's behalf. Witter calls out Hatton so much that is almost depressing to watch.
Witters best win is against a fighter (Harris) whom lost to a fighter who is generally classed as c grade(Maussa) who Hatton gets slated for fighting. Witter needs to step up and fight an elite fighter aswell, people are critising Hatton for going up a division and fighting the best fighter to come along in decades. Witter has overated speed, he is down right ugly to watch and has awful and i mean awful footwork, he does have good power though. Personally i think Hatton might get caught ala Magee but he would ride it out and smother Witters work and stop him late, if he can close the distance with Mayweather then he can damn sure do it with Witter.
I may not agree with everything you have said, but that's a damn fine post. I think he has to fight Witter next or in the not too distant future. :good
