Well, it looks like David is to move up after Big Mac decided to sound out Bobby Gunn for a rematch

Personally I would like to see David take on a bum, and a mediocre heavy (of which there are many) early next year

When he's knocked them out, I think Peter would be the ideal opponent. Saw him against McCline, he's so fat and moves with all the grace of an oil tanker. The Nigerian Post delivers his punches a day early, they are so telegraphed.

Haye has the edge in just about everything, boxing ability, speed and maybe even power. His only worry is his chin, but hopefully not having to drain will improve this. I don't expect him to get hit so much anyway, these fat blobs are so lumbering, and David will have all the time in the world to pick his bombs. This fight would get him on the map

What are the thoughts of ESB-tards on Haye vs Peter, and furthermore any of the other contenders. Please try to keep Wlad out of it, that is too far ahead, and unrealistic at the moment

Not impossible, not exactly made of granite is he?

But I'd prefer to talk about the likes of Chagaev, Maskaev, Peter, Ibragimov, Povetkin and maybe even that freakshow Valuev

Haye could beat Peter by KO if he lands early on, which he should be able to do given his speed and Peter's apparent lack of chin.

I cannot see Haye lasting the distance with Peter with his low left hand however. Either Haye early, or Peter late.

TBH, Haye needs to do a Cotto when moving up to heavyweight, otherwise he just wont a strong force up there. He needs a better chin to bang with the heavies.

The draining is going to be a massive thing in my opinion

We are talking 20 lbs of muscle being shifted, of course his legs were going to be like jelly

Haye is going to lose the odd fight, there is no doubt with that risky style, but I want to gauge how people think he would fair against the individual guys

He is young, dynamic, entertaining, risk-taking and media friendly

I would put him over every heavy other than Wlad, he is to quick and he won't get hit clean at heavy and will hit the guys to much. He was 22 and stupid when he fought Thompson and Weight drained when he fought Mormeck. He pucnhes as hard as anyone at heavy but is more acuarte and faster.

In 3 years he will be ready for Wlad, HBO and the yanks will love him to. The right look, personality, fearless. If Haye was a yank we would not hear the end of him.

If nothing changes with Haye's defence he will end up like jermy williams vs. Peter, against Ibragimov he would have the advantage of being the bigger puncher and the agressor, I give him the edge in that matchup.

Povetkin is a far better boxer and would school Haye IMO, late round stoppage. Same for Chagaev though Haye probably has a better chance of landing a bomb on him.

Haye/Maskaev I don't really know how to judge because we haven't seen Oleg fight in a year, probably a case of who lands a big shot first. Valuev also is tough to call, Haye probably by UD but its hard to hold up a sweaty, hairy 7foot Russian for 12 rounds and if Haye gets tired Valuev could steal some rounds late and sneak a victory.

I don't really see Haye ever dominating at HW but he is excting to watch so is a welcome addition, Wlad destroys him however and he should stay well clear of him if he wants to have a long career.

his power is the main problem for heavyweights. on top, he has speed. its his defence and chin that worry me!

Until we see him in a few heavyweight fights i think its far too early to tell. If he doesnt do something about his defence it wont matter how good his power, accuracy or speed is. Questionable chin or not, he won't survive long against anyone with a good right hand.

He mentioned after the Arthur-Foster fight he had a BIG name lined up but he wouldn't say who, he said they were in talks with them.

Great to see him move to the heavyweight division. He needs to make massive improvements in his defence though.

Wlad seems like a huge order for him, as Wlad's one-two would put a hole in Haye's head.

I think a good big name opponent early on would be Rahman, there is some risk, but at this stage Haye should be able to knock him out.

Sam Peter is the ideal fight for him, in May, to put him on the map.

I think as you say, that Sam Peter is there for the taking and he is at his maximum value as I think he has reached his peak with the very limited talent he has.

He should have a tune up first, against a top 30 contender though in february.

Other contenders that would be good for him are Valuev and Rahmam, both big names and both now found out.
