    Of course it would, if people picked up on this idea, and it spread.

    Sadly, we're all a bunch of hypocrites. We complain up & down every time there's a robbery in the ring, but then we keep watching, keep buying PPV, keep feeding the machine ......

    So it goes.

    there's multiple factors for boxing's decline, certainly corruption is in the equation. I believe the rise of pay per view is a bigger reason. PPV has been around for a long time, but it used to be saved for the truly marquee matchups. Already four PPV fights lined up for the fall. HBO's WCB/BAD schedule looks pretty bleak this fall.
