The headbutt that shook the world: greatest of all time?

Watching the fight back yesterday, Parker actually did better in rounds 3 and 4 than he generally did from about 5-10. The theory that he was concussed and then recovered doesn't really hold up.

 

Holyfield is the greatest head butter of all time. He perfected the use of upperbuts, straightbuts, jab buts and hook buts as a stylistic principal…but it was his mastery of combination butting and counter buts that truly set him apart…Don’t be fooled by Whyte’s cheap imitation, he got lucky…Whyte is fraud.

 

I’m sure you’re using hyperbole in your op, but IMO the worst clash of heads I recall was Forest vs Mosley 1. I haven’t rewatched it forever, but at the time it happened I yelled, “Oh ****!” I don’t think Shane had ever been staggered in a fight before but after that butt Vernon damn near knocked him out. I actually think that head butt was a turning point in Shane’s career. Vernon may very well have went on to beat him regardless but after the head butt and knockdown Shane never really seemed invincible again.

Edit: I just watched the Mosley / Forrest head butt again and it wasn’t as dramatic as I remember. Both guys reacted to it immediately and Mosley was cut by it. About 30 seconds after the action resumed Vernon caught Shane and then drilled him good with an uppercut. Shane was lucky to have not been stopped. Whether or not the head butt played a part I’m not sure.

 

Holt vs Torres was the worst I've seen and they gave his ass a ko victory for that

Weird comment. I'm a Parker fan. Thought it was pretty obvious that Parker struggled during the middle rounds. Didn't realise it'd be a controversial statement.

 

The body shot late in the fight was viscious as duck aswell. Had him ready to go.
I remember someone from Team Mosley commenting after the fight that the butt was an ATL special or something to that effect. Suggesting that Holyfield inspires all A-Town fighters to hone their butting skills.

That was a great headbutt, Parker was clearly hurt. More than that, Whyte got much needed 3 extra points (from 9-10 to 10-8).

Can't remember that Holyfield scored an official KD with a headbutt, and he landed plenty.

 

Nice user name G. Manu Vatuvei was/is legendary. Such a beast in open field or with little room to move. Not a bad defender either.
