Who would you say is the Heavyweight champ? Wlad has the best resume with the best wins. Sultan beat Briggs who beat Liakhovich who beat Lamon who beat Wlad. Ruslan beat Valuev who beat Ruiz. Ruiz had the belt for a long time. Who would you consider the HW champ?
I wouldn't consider either the heavyweight champ, but I'd consider the winner of Ruslan vs Sultan closer. As far as better resume Ruslan has the best recent resume with wins over Ruiz, Valuev and Virchis.
Wlad/Lamon would be my #1, although I'm very happy the unification fight for Sultan/Ruslan is going ahead. The 'C' position would still be vacant, though.
If Wlad wins (which he should), he will be the best choice for champ! He has the better resume especially if he gets a revenge victory over Brewster to make up for his most recent disaster! But no matter what, it is still a cloudy picture with all of these belts floating around! Each champ has a reasonable excuse to be considered. Until we have a fight-off leaving one standing, it will remain cloudy and full of excuses.
Nobody will be champ until the division becomes Undisputed and thus we have a title lineage again. The fact Wlad is the most skilled /Lamon KO'ed the most skilled or that the Chagaev/Ibragimov winner will have two belts doesn't make them THE champ.
The lineage of victory over wlad belongs to the winner of the chageav, ibragamov fight. Therefore wlad cant be considered the champion until he beats him.
Chagaev Vs Sultan, Wlad Is doing eff all since winning the IBF title. Brewster Is coming off Inactivity and a loss, he's nowhere near top 10 to make Wlad No 1.
If Wlad/Lamon winner fights Chageav/Ibragimov winner or Peter/Maskaev winner...then the winner is Champ.
Not his recent resume. His last four wins are Peter, Byrd, Brock and Austin. Chagaev's are Virchis, Sprott, Ruiz and Valuev. Their upcoming opponents are Brewster, who is coming off of a year of inactivity, a punishing loss and serious eye injury. Chagaev's next opponent is an active, undefeated title holder coming off what should have been a shutout win over Briggs.
The man with two titles, and also being undefeated, would have to be seen as the number one heavy, even above the Wlad Brew winner. So the WBA/WBO clash winner would not yet be a full fledged heavyweight champion, but he'd be the closest thing we have til we can get more titles unified.
neither is 100% but Id consider the Klitschko/Brewster winner to be considered as the better heavyweight "on the road" to being THE MAN
The winner of Chagaev and Ibragimov considering as HW-champ??? Are you people drunk. :nut The Boxer makes the title not vice versa. The winner of Chagaev-Ibragimov is nothin but a double beltholder of the ABC-soup. Who have they beaten? Briggs and Valuev.....hilarious. I would say that the Klitschko/Brewster winner is far above the -ov/-ov winner. But not yet champ.
so all those years people cry unification and when they finally get it they dont want to call the winner the champion.
Hell the fighter makes the belt....get over it.... The WBO-belt is worthless. Especially when two fighters who are clearly not the Top dog fight for it. The one who has WBC/WBA and IBF is the true undisputed champ. Right now no one is the champ. Klitschko is the clear no.1 and if he beats Brester tomorrow he will be a step closer, but still not yet champ.
