A much improved Vlad under the big heavyweight trainer Manny Stewart has shown to be a dominant champion, I have not seen such a beat down and primarily from the jab, the right and left hook were added bonuses but I had the feeling as did Buddy McGirt and Lamon Brewster the the bomb was going to land and Vlad was not in a rush. You have to fight your fight and that is what Vlad did.
This WLAD proves that he appears better when his opposition is worse. He decisively beat a washed up Lamon Brewster.
Lamon, while never a great boxer was a fighter who pressured and would force his way in to land power shots...he seems to be at a point in his career where his lack of technical prowess has caught up to him though. Without the tremendous heart and desire he has displayed on past occasion he is unable to create opportunities for himself to land the big shots. At this point he is all chin. In the past you might say he was mostly or half chin, now that is all that's left. :smoke
It was evident years ago that his overall lack of skill would hold him back. This isnt a new development.
Brew either got lucky the first time or had a little shady help. Either way, he was never really in the same league.
:good To discredit Klit's performance by saying he beat a washed up Brewster is to imply that Brewster didn't perfrom as well as he did in the first fight. Brewster did everything he did in the first fight, its just that Klit has corrected his weaknesses, and didn't allow him to do what he got away with the first time.
Of course we are going to disagree on the greater issue, Righty...but I believe your logic is also flawed with regards to your criteria for judging if Brewster is washed up... You make it sound like..."since Brew sucked in the 1st fight and sucked in the rematch, he can't be washed up because he still sucks." atsch WTF...???
I am not saying Brewster sucks, and never have said that. I am saying that Brewster was as good as Brewster ever was. Brewster tried to do exacty what he did in the first fight, but Klit was improved and detered him from what he got away with in the first fight. The difference in this fight and the first was not Brewster, at all. Brewster was the same Brewter, trying the same movements and lunges as he did before. He was fighting at his usual level. To say he's washed up is to say that he, somehow, didn't perform to the leve he did in the first fight. But I saw the exact same performace out of Brewster in this fight as the first. But he was met with better, stronger opposition this time. And THAT is the difference. Brewster didn't look washed up, at all, to me.
I think he did look washed up. When a fighter who is supposed to be all heart and determination quits on the stool without being KD'd, without being cut, without having a busted anything...it's obvious he lost his key ingredient.
If Klitschko had not of ran out of gas during their first fight LB most likely would have quit on his stool for that one too. In fact, LB was taking a worse beating in the first fight. I guess WK planned on wearing him down with the jab then unloading the heavy stuff.
Brewster was way too motivated for the first fight. There's no way he would've quit that fight after dedicating it to his deceased trainer.
Even his last fight with Lyakhovich, Brewster showed tremendous heart fighting through practically the entire bout with the injury Sergei inflicted and aggravated. There was no sign of quit in Lamon. He was a valiant warrior, his time is over.
Yeah, I hope he has success in the future, though. Brewster has qualities that make this sport great.
