October 1964 ... Around the time challenger Sonny Liston was supposedly in the best shape of his life and the champion Muhammad Ali got a hernia, cancelling their rematch.

    Leon Spinks.

Sorry if that is a disappointment to some people.

Leon Spinks. Which admittedly zeroes in my age and birthday easily.

Hard to think the last living person born in the 1800's died in 2016. If she was still alive and have posting here, she would have said Jim Jeffries. Image how crazy that would have been.

    Larry Holmes for me.

Interesting way to look at it. My grandmother was born in 1909 and passed in 2002, aged 93. I used to think of events that occurred after her DOB, not least the first FOTC between Johnson and Jeffries in 1910. Of course she also predated the sinking of the Titanic in 1912.

I just saw on the news that Henry Kissinger has passed, born 1923, aged 100. Amazing life span. RIP.

1960, must have been Liston, I'm guessing without checking... my first memory of a HW Fight was Chuvalo late 60s, on TV in Toronto.

Who against (?), I'm not sure, but I think it was Quarry.
