The Heavyweight scene is finally all kinds of awesome

The fact that none of the guys on that list or any other list in this thread have a chance in hell to beat either Klitschkos kills this dicussion quickly. A division is exciting when it involves fighters that could give each other, including the champions, 50/50 fights.

I'm really starting to enjoy the heavyweight division again personally.

David Price, David Haye, Derek Chisora and Tyson Fury are making headlines regularly here in the UK and there is quite a lot of people talking about the potential fights.

David Price vs Tyson Fury would be absolutely huge in this country, I think it would sell out Anfield which is about 40,000 seats.

 

I agree, and when the belts were splintered and the WBO was considered less than a World Title, they were all fighting each other.

From a DKSABs POV, it appears they're not fighting each other, but look at the history.

In the early til late 90s, when the titles were scattered, 4 different titlists defended 2-3X/yr. That made up to 12 top level HWs/yr by itself. Add to that at least one eliminator per title, and we got another 4 top level HW fights.

Throw in the NABOs, NABAs, WBC INternationals, and we got 15-20 fringe contenders fighting each yr.

When Lewis hemmed them all up, we were thrilled to know who was the top dog. When he let them go, one by one until he last fought against Vitali, he was still considered top dog since he hadnt lost them in the ring. But at that point, DK owned 2/4 titles with Ruiz and Byrd, and both those guys defended against other DK fighters for about 3 yrs.

So from about 03-07, both the WBA and IBF belonged to Don King. In 04 when Vitali retired emeritus, DK snatched up the WBC again with Peter, Rahman, Maskaev, etc fighting for his 3rd title. Only Wlad kept him from being undisputed in a way, and eventually, he lost to Brewster.

When Wlad came roaring back after his collapse against Brewster, it put the nail in DKs coffin. NOONE, absolutely NOONE was getting DK back to the top of the heap.

Now, we got 1 linear champ, 1 titlist, and the WBA had to essentially create a title to keep the division flowing.

When the K2 are retired, the belts will again be scattered, and to the DKSAB fan, it'll be a golden era once more.
Only the hardcore DKSAB haterz will still consider it dead, and those are the nostalgia idiots who refuse to recognize greatness in a modern fighter because it will move his favorite that his daddy used to talk about down the ATG list.:rofl:rofl:rofl

 

I pretty much think he will.

It's a really good fight, but you gotta favor the hungry German fighter in this one. Chisora, after having made it to the top, doesnt seem to have the hunger. Or it's more likely, that he made a great showing against two injured fighters, and we only saw his true skill level against healthy top 10s when he fought Fury and Haye.

This loss will send Del Boy into a never to return spiral.

A bad move for him IMO. He should instead fight the typical euro level diet of Bydenko, Bahtov, Arrich, and toss in Sprott, Gerber, and couple other easy type wins so he can build his record back and make the Helenius rematch more appealing.

IF he goes into a Helenius fight after having lost 4 in a row, to Robbe, Vitali, Haye and then Charr, ppl will write him off as shot.

IMO, he aint shot, just a step below the A level, which all of those 4 are or will be.:think

 

It's a good fight for hw boxing though.
Charr + Chisora = slugfest.

It would be nice to see Charr win as he is determined, and having determined guys getting attention are good examples for future boxers.

 

True, but as a fan of Del Boy, I'd rather see him take a step back, improve, get in better shape, then make a move back to the top 20 in a yr or 2.

He needs a few tuneups to bring his confidence back to where it was going into the Fury fight.

Seems he's only fighting for $$$, and that would make this bout with Charr more of a beatdown than a slugfest.:think

Bull****, it still sucks and the guy I thought would fix the division, David Haye, has been **** as a heavyweight. I haven't seem a.good heavyweight fight since Brewster/liakhovic
