I'm guessing this has probably been done at some point, but who wins. The James Braddock that beat Max Baer in 1935 or the Buster Douglas that beat Mike Tyson in 1990?
I'll take Douglas. I think just about anyone would have beaten Baer that night. He seemed so disinterested in the fight. It was like he was playing. He barely even fought until the end. Credit to Braddock for taking some big punches and continuing to come foward, but aside form that he did not look all that good that night. Buster actually managed to rise from his mediocirty that night in Tokyo. For one night, he fought like a truly great fighter.
I feel sorry for Braddock, but Buster takes it in my opinion. The story of Braddock is more of a fairytale, but freakin' Douglas beating "unbeatable" Tyson was the biggest upset in boxing history (until November 13 2010 that is).
