who you think was the Henry Armstrong of our era? Manny Steward on Pacquaio when he was fighting cotto "Henry Armstrong never had this kind of punching power he wore you down this man has power with either hand and always fights back"
And??? Pacquiao was the Fighter of the Decade in the 2000's not 2015. What's so wrong with him being compared to Henry Armstrong. They're both short little guys with great careers. Again, why the saltiness?
Manny Pacquiao is around 15th in my ATG rankings, he's therefore borderline one of the GOAT's. Name me ONE former light flyweight, name me one Lineal Flyweight Champion, that became an ATG at welterweight, beating ATG's and HOF's along the way, and earning a light middleweight title over an elite who weighed 6lbs more in the weigh in. That is a parody. Name me one Bantamweight that went onto become an ATG welterweight. Are there any featherweights who became ATG welterweights? As far as I can see, Floyd and others should be ashamed they, as naturally bigger men, couldn't even knockout a former light flyweight. Pacquiao IS the Henry Armstrong of our era. In the future, I definitely see the knowledgeable boxing fans put him into the Top 10.
:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl Georges Carpentier started at flyweight and fought all the way at heavyweight knocking them out! Pacquiao couldn't even get a knockout at welterweight without draining a guy who had grown out of the division! Hell, he hasn't even had a knockout in the last 7 years!
Pacquiao carried excellent power from 112-140. From 122-130 pounds he was among the harder punchers around. A massive puncher from superbantam to superfeather. He did not carry power to 147. He rose 11 weight classes. FFS man, at some point you can no longer carry the power. I think carrying power in 10 weight classes is sufficient. :nut
All of this adds to the evidence that Pac didn't cheat then. Carpentier did it and he wasn't in a cheating era, Pac can do it. Miguel Cotto said he felt great at the weight that time round and had no excuses for the loss, so HA! Despite that lack of knockout power from Pac at welterweight, he still established an ATG welterweight legacy and this further emphasises how past prime he was. His power, as well as all physical advantages were at the lower weights. He is from the modern era where weight class has a more notable effect on the opponent. Carpentier wasn't the lineal Flyweight champ either. In fact, he wasn't successful at all until he got to Middleweight. Pac was successful from Fly all the way to Light Middleweight (beating ATG's and very good fighters all along).
You obviously have no clue about Carpentier :rofl:rofl He turned pro at 14 and was a welterweight by the time he was 18 also at 18 he was the European champion and fought for the middleweight title. What did Pac do at 18? Oh yeah he was getting ko'd in 3 rounds! But that isn't my point, Carpentier fought in all of the divisions from flyweight to heavyweight which was back then 8 divisions. Today he would have fought in all 17. Point is Pacquiao isn't the only fighter to go from flyweight to light middleweight. He is a drug cheat too. Carpentier filled out to a natural 170. Pacquiao is a natural 120 lber.
So much wrong with this post. 1. There are divisions below Flyweight today. In fact, Pacquiao fought in one of those divisions professionally. 2. Pacquiao did suffer two KO losses at Flyweight. But also knocked out one of the greatest Flyweights in boxing history square in his prime. And he did this as a malnourished teenager. 3. Carpentier moved up in weight and that is impressive. 4. Pacquiao has a much better resume than Carpentier. 5. There is no evidence that Pacquiao cheated, period.
