LOL. If this fight means nothing much in a very important division historical speaking, then boxing as you define it must be dead.

Fans want to see the best vs the best in their prime. Both being undefeated adds to the allure. There is also a nice contrast in styles. And the odds makers have it close to pick em'. Pretty much as good as it gets.

PS: Ward is better than Virgil Hill. Hill can't punch and wasn't very good at taking one either.

Stevenson has had 5 fights in the last 3 years, Ward 3.

There's a very simple solution to that and its called purse bids. The fight is staged on the network by the winning side. This is boxing 101.

Who pulled out of the bid? Krusher did , which proved the promotional issue was solely on his side. So why did you blame it on Stevenson?

Maybe. But as someone pointed out already this is the #1 ranked light-heavyweight going against the #4 or #5. That must have happened plenty of times, and means little really.

Both are undefeated but that doesn't mean much historically. Undefeated fighters go up against each other all the time.
This isn't necessarily best v the best, as already noted. It might be, but who knows.
I doubt seriously these two are both in their primes.

    Andre Ward is no better.

There he goes again, trying to distort things. Stevenson has had one fight since 9-2015. Nothing is scheduled currently.

Ward has had two fights since 6-2015, soon to be three fights by 11-2016

Now fool who has been more active lately?

LOL, okay, to pin it down, when was the last time two pound for pound ranked guys in the top 5, who were also in their prime and undefeated fought each other?

A pretty rare event. You might as well come out and modern boxing sucks and no match can be made that fits anything historical.

Everything I said is true.Is that right or wrong? Who has Ward beat at lightheavyweight to make this such a special fight? He isn't even in the top 4 at 175lbs!

Team Steveson said it must be on Showtime. That is the sticky point. Team Kovalev has plenty of options and is the bigger draw. It's pretty clear what has to be done to make the fight. And like I said Kovalev is Stevenson's biggest pay by far and the sand left in his boxing hourglass is emptying...

If you know much about the sport ( You don't ) you would note that rival promoters who have their fighters signed to different networks such as HBO and Showtime champions often do not meet.

Hence Stevenson has promotional issues preventing this fight and his biggest payday.

Brook a top 5 pound for pound man? On what planet? Read what I said.

Now both Kovalev and Ward are top 5 ranked pound for pound fighters in boxing.

Team Steveson never once said it had to be on Showtime. They entered purse bids expecting Kovalev and his team to do the same , but they did not , they withdrew and that is a fact.
If Stevenson had done that there would no end to the abuse he would receive.

It seemed very strange at the time why Kovalev would pull out of the purse bids. It all made sense after i saw him against Chilemba the south paw. If pitter patter jabs off Chimemba were good enough to snap back the head of Krusher , imagine what a savage left hand from Stevenson would do?:eeek::eeek::eeek:
Superman doesn't have a lot of variety , but he does with the little he has to effective devastation . And he is very awkward and hard to time. Kovalev is all about straight forward boxing and timing.
That straight left hand lead from supamman is a knock out blow.

HBO and main events knew all along Krusher was wide open to a straight left hand lead. The Chilemba fight proved it as fact.
They had no confidence in him going over to Showtime and pulling out the victory. Thats why they would not go through with the purse bids as every body knew Haymon was going to win.
Now i think you should run along and board up your windows or something
