The Holt/Torres knockout doesn't make SportsCenter's Top 10, but the UFC fight did...

They managed to show highlights of the UFC borefest at #7 or #8 for SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays, yet no Holt/Torres. Other than that, we have the same old repetitive baseball catches. They actually managed to show a 30 second segment of the Holt/Torres fight during the show, but that was about it.

Brian Kenny, who's also SportsCenter anchor, always argues in favor of putting more boxing on the SportsCenter, yet the fat old executives at ESPN insist on showing hours upon hours of golf and NASCAR.

    :-(

ESPN has been promoting MMA for quite some time now. And quite honestly, the only fights that ever make their top plays are FNF or WNF (unless its a mega PPV fight).

Yea pretty much. They showed that Baby face Garcia KO a million times as it was on espn. However, it was a sweet KO as Ive seen in a while. I dont understand why they wouldnt devote more air time to such an exciting fight.:huh

They dont because its promoting another networks boxing event. Like I said, you ALWAYS see KOs from FNF and WNF (both on ESPN)...and only catch ones from other networks if they are big fights.

Its all about the money...nothing more.

I see what you are saying tho...and I wish they would do more boxing coverage. Sad really.

MMA gives ESPN the right to show highlights, most boxing matches other than the ones ESPN airs don't. Simple as that. ESPN doesn't show many boxing highlights because they don't have a license to do so. Unlike a league sport (which includes UFC) where everyone signs a contract with the league, and thus you only need league permission to be allowed to show highlights, to show boxing highlights, you need the consent of both fighters, the promoter, and the network airing the fight. That's a lot of consents to get.

Read my post above. It's boxing's fault, not Sportscenter's.

They showed a 30 second highlight of Holt's win over Torres, but my gripe is that the knockout didn't make the top plays at the end of the show.

I did read it bro, but I had already released my ******.
In all fairness tho, ESPN used to cover Boxing much deeper in the past.
(Weigh-in's, Post fight news conferences ect...)

I hope atleast that espn mentioned that this UFC was the first championship robbery. the scores were ridiculous, they robbed the unpopular champion, rampage jackson, for their golden boy and the face of T.U.F.

MMA is far more popular than boxing-deal with it.
