The actual Evander Holyfield of 1990 in the 50's decade, how would he do? Among his contemporaries would be; Walcott Charles Louis Marciano Henry Patterson Johannson Folley Machen Moore Layne Valdes Baker Could he win the crown? Who would give him his toughest fights? NB Please ,no," is he allowed ped's "etc. Just the actual 90s version.
Think he has a lot of trouble with with the best of that time. Holyfield Marciano would be some fight! Think he would have stayed at his younger weight. Charles Holyfield would also be a hell of a fight. He blows by the fringe contenders but ends up a loss or two between Archie (who I think beats Holyfield) and Marciano. Probably beats the others in entertaining Holyfield action
Beats them all, either at 190+ or 205. There aint no Bowe monsters around that time who could stop him.
This. Holyfield at 205 or less would do well, but I also don’t see him becoming champion. I don’t see him beating Marciano, Moore, Walcott, or Johannson, but I would definitely back him to beat Valdez, Machen, Patterson, shot Louis, and Baker. Charles would most likely be a 50/50 fight, since Charles wasn’t always consistent at heavyweight.
He’s at least even money with the best and favored over most. Holyfield would definitely force a third fight at least and that applies to almost any heavyweight in history.
Holy was an under rated boxer because he usually got goaded into a fight. His muscular shoulders, seems easy to hit because he wasn't a bob & weave fighter, but he used his legs excellently for lateral movement. I think he has to have Manny Steward type trainer against Marciano, Walcott & Charles. Or else he loses and rematches these guys a few times, probably losing 2 outta 3. With Louis who wasn't a busy guy, he was economical but very precise, Holy would keep him resettting. Kinda of do to him what Billy did only from beginning to end. Not a good style for Louis.
Runs the table. I'd expect late 80s cruiserweight/small heavyweight Holyfield to beat most if not all of them too.
Evander would have weighed in the 190's in the 1950's, Walcott, Rock and Ezzard would be tough fights. Evander couldn't afford to get in a brawl with the Rock. The other two? 50/50
None. Holyfield is the better boxer, and is bigger, stronger, and faster. Same with Marciano and Walcott, none of them have any advantages over Holyfield.
