The Wbo does not give discounts. Announced the official auction for Joshua vs Usyk Eddie Hearn's Matchroom plans to complicate the future management of Anthony "AJ" Joshua (23-1), fresh from the recapture of WBA, IBF and WBO belts last Saturday in Diriyah - Saudi Arabia thanks to the points victory over the Mexican Andy Ruiz. As is known to both the IBF and WBO impose on the new champion to face their designated official challenger namely the Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev (28-1) for the IBF and the Ukrainian Olexander Usyk (17-0) the WBO. The strategy put in place by Hearn foresees that Joshua will face in the first instance Pulev, a match scheduled for May at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, also asking for an extension to the WBO that had given the deadline of May 7th to dispute the match with Usyk . Just take a cold shower. The WBO has officially communicated to Matchroom and to Alexander Krassyuk of K2 Promotion that they have 30 days (12 January therefore) to find the agreement by private negotiation, otherwise tender auction with a starting base of one million dollars. At this point, if there are no changes in the race, it is very likely that Joshua will leave the WBO belt; whereas the Usyk business is run by Matchroom and Pulev (Top Rank), on paper is a less dangerous challenger than the Ukrainian champion. It is therefore easy to hypothesize a match for the vacant belt between Usyk and the New Zealand Jospeh Parker (26-2), former title holder and best-placed man in the standings, or with the Englishman Dereck Chisora (32-9), commercially matched more salable. In your opinion does AJ risk to lose some belt considering all this mess or wont there be this danger?
That post is not bad at all. Sounds about right. Eddie knows he can make more money with a unification fight so letting a belt drop is the right move for him strategically. If he controls the guys that would contest that belt that's the way he would like to go - Pulev, then Usyk/Parker but preferably Usyk. Meanwhile a new #1 will have emerged from a probable Wilder/Fury trilogy. AJ will look to match Fury if he emerges victorious from those fights in 2021. A couple of us will die before that fight comes off
As you say, the WBO belt may well be let go Both Parker and Usyk are with Matchroom - so Hearn may back the fight between the 2.
