32 nfl teams with a 53 man roster during the season and 90-something outside of those 4 months...Not surprised some get gassed...Most do not...

The top college football programs are lucky to send 1 or 2 players off of their 100+ man rosters to the nfl each year, most send none...There are also division 1, 2, 3, etc. All of those athletes train for football, not boxing...

Didn't watch the video because Shaq never trained to be a boxer, he trained to play center in the nba...As usual, you miss the point...

FIFA estimates that 240 million people play soccer regularly. Just think of how many boxing ATGs are wasting their talent playing soccer. :nut

If you look back through history there's only been a couple of eras where heavyweight wasn't one of the weakest divisions. I think the main difference now is that it's really boring now too, look at some of the 80's heavyweight title fights that didn't involve Larry Holmes, they featured fairly modest talents but they had some lively fights, it's not just the Klitschkos almost all heavyweight fights suck now. Fury/Chisora was the first enjoyable one I've seen in ages. Still heavyweight is better now than it was in the 3 years after Lewis retired and we had Byrd, Rahman, Brewster and Ruiz as the champions all taking it in turns to fight Andrew Golata and Jameel Mcline in half empty buildings. At leastb we have a clear top dog who is a marquee name aswell now.

the current hw division always looks weak, because we only remember the best of past eras. In the 90s people would say the division is weak.
Also nowadays with a higher cruiserweight limit, those who would have been heavyweights in the past are now split between cruiserweight and heavyweight, If hw were the same size as they were in the 70s, we would also have cunningham, huck, tarver maybe chad dawson also in the heavyweight division. That would make it look a lot stronger.
if the top heavys were 70s sizes (upto about 230lbs) we might have a top 10 like this

    wladimir
    vitali
    adamek
    cunningham
    povetkin
    haye
    Dawson
    Dimitrenko
    boytsov
    chambers

    I think a division like this would look quite strong and competitive if they were all 70s sizes all between 190 and 230lbs compared to a 70 top ten of;

    frazier
    ali
    foreman
    bonavena
    quarry
    foster
    cooper
    chuvalo
    liston
    urtain
    garcia

    or an 1980 top ten of;

    holmes
    weaver
    cooney
    dokes
    page
    coetzee
    berbick
    leon spinks
    tillis
    cobb
    snipes

This definitely compounds the problem. You also don't get competitive matchups that often. A prospect will pad his record with easily defeated bums, then make a massive leap up against a Klitschko and unsurprisingly get soundly thrashed. There were plenty of good fights that could have been made in the last few years involving Solis, Povetkin, Chambers, Haye, Adamek, Boytsov etc. Instead we get endless boring mismatches that are no good for the fighters and no good for the state of the division from a fan point of view.

    Agreed.

Another big problem is the way the contenders are protected. Povetkin looks like a good fighter, beat a couple of good guys to get into the top 10, then goes into a holding pattern waiting for a Klitschko fight or whatever it is he's waiting for fighting bums. Eddie Chambers 1 fight in 18 months against a journeyman he's already beaten. Dimitrenko 5 fights in 3 years. Tony Thompson the same. They should be fighting each other A) to make the division more interesting and B) to give them a chance in hell of beating either Klitschko because wins over Maurice Harris and Derrick Rossey give no valuable preperation.
