Well why risk it if you know your striking if inferior to your opponent and not do what works best for you?
One only improves by trial and error and he's fought ham and eggers that he could have given it a go against but chose not to. Jon Jones wasn't that good of a striker in his early fights but he tried it against the cans that he was fighting on the regional circuit and he looked like a savant. He needed work when he got to the UFC but there was some basis for it and he wasn't clueless. Davis obviously wants nothing to do with the stand-up and I'm thinking that he's hiding a disgraceful Glass Jaw. That may or may not be incorrect but if Rashad decides to trade with him we will find out.
This content is protected Danny Castillo- Wrestling backround, fight stopping GnP, Great team.. I only see his name climbing the roster. Two losses to Cerrone and Pettis on his record, but the man has improved since. Don't miss his fight this Friday against Anthony Njokuani!
Love Njokuani, but I see Castillo dominating him with his superior wrestling/grappling. Anthony's only chance is to keep it standing, where he has a big advantage, but i don't see that happening.
Missed Njokuani's fight against Alves, and didn't get to see any of that striking.. Only a short clip of Castillo, but I know talent when I see it. I have some old WEC cards that Castillo might be on.. I have to look.
You mean Barboza? That fight had some of the best striking you could hope to see in an MMA match. You should seek it out. Very close, could have gone either way, really.
My mistake.. I got him and Papy Abedi mixed up :!: I got UFC 128 and a few WEC cards that might have The Assassin on them.. Definitely going to check him out before fight night.
Castillo is susceptible to getting shut down by top level wrestlers as happened with Volkmann and Roller. Good, entertaining fighter but not a guy I see cracking the top 10.
