The Idea That Pac Has Taken on Better Fighters Than Mayweather: Does It Hold Water?

Of course he played it safe. He also won every round. He could not have stopped Baldomir. I don't think he stuggled against Judah. He was killing Judah before that low blow. Sure Judah fought better in the first four rounds, but he didn't beat PBF by the margin PBF beat him by in the last 8 rounds.

 

No double standard. You're the one who said that Pacquiao was not impressive because he didn't stop MAB. That's not the reason I gave ( I never gave one). He wasn't impressive because he was slower, showed less fire, MAB I thought won a few rounds off of him that he shouldn't have. No way he won that 12-0 and NO WAY MAB was Top 15 P4P.

 

Mayweather has faced stiffer competition than Pac-Man throughout both there respective careers. Mayweather has wins over 11 champions at 5 weights which is more than Pac-Man. Also while Mayweather campaigned at 130, he defeated 5 prime future and former champions and is arguably the greatest ever at the weight.

Mayweather's placement as the best fighter in the world is a testiment to his skill and longevity as a champion. He has been a champion from 1998-2007 and has remained undefeated. Based on superior skill and his overall career ledger he edges Pac-Man, who is on his heels.

 

Ok, but I am taking into account that Baldomir weighed over 160lbs on fight night and PBF was 149lbs.

 

If not top 10 it was close, afterall he hadjust beaten Pac within the same year. Yes MAB KO him before but that was supposudley a distracted MAB and unprepared, now he comes prepared and all he oculd do was try to survive. Both Pac & Larios was at 122 at the same time, their framesize is more or less the same and there was no indication in the fight that Pac had any sort of size advantage. Pac outboxed him...

 

Mayweather's quality of opposition goes deeper than Manny Pacquiao's. If you skim the surface and look at their top 3, Pacquiao has the edge (Barrera x 2, Morales x 3, Marquez) over Floyd (De La Hoya, Castillo, Corrales)

 

When Pacquiao fought Larios, he was at 130, Larios was coming up from 122. It was after the 2nd Morales fight.

And IMO, Pacquiao would ALWAYS beat MAB, no matter when they fought. Morales would have been a much harder fight than MAB because of the styles.

 

Well....maybe. Pacquiao lost to Morales and drew with Marquez. Is this fought or BEAT better competition?

 

MAB was top 5 p4p 3 months prior. JMM beats him in a very close fight and he drops to 8th p4p 1month before. He drops out of top 10 not because he lost but because he was overtaken by Cotto and other fighters. Im sure in the space of 1 month 7 fighters didnt overtake him as there wasnt 7 big fights to challenge for p4p top 10. Pac was content to win a decision cos he knew he had the fight in the bag, he did what he had to thats all. Sure you can give MAB 3 rounds but thats 3 sympathy rounds. Watch each round as if you havent watched the previous ones and all can be scored for Pac.

 

He's fought the better opposition in regards to his respective top 3 opponents.

 

which makes it even more puzzling why people act like Cotto is the second coming of Trinidad beating Judah who was already coming off 2 loses. People shitted on Mayweather for fighting Judah, but praised Cotto....thats a double standard.

 

Not IMO. And MAB shouldn't have been in the top 10 before the JMM fight. His fights with Juarez showed he was no longer one of the 10 best fighters in the world.

 

I would give the edge to Pacquiao if it's simply fought.

 

If it's beat, then PBF being unbeaten comes into play.
