The Idea That Pac Has Taken on Better Fighters Than Mayweather: Does It Hold Water?

great post however i think that span at champion, and this comming from a floyd fan, is a little tainted for the simple fact he doesn't defend his tittles that much....but i guess thats a testiment to his moving up in wieght.

 

Looking at numbers is easy and that would be valid had Larios been pushed around, showed lack of power and unable to handle the 130 power. Fact is though, Larios stunned Pac, Larios could not be simply pushed around, Larios showed a very sturdy chin. All this pointing to the fact that size was not an issue in this fight. Pac beat Larios simply because he was the better fighter by outboxing him, not because he was the bigger fighter.

I agree Morales was always gonna be tougher cos of his chin and height. Even before their first fight I pointed out that it could be 50/50 because Morales had the perfect antidotes for Pac's strengths. Pac was also coming off the JMM fight which exposed alot of his then weaknesses.

 

I agree with you...the thread says fought..If this is fought then you cannot top Prime Mab, prime JMM, and tail end of Prime Erik.

This lineup is not only tough to duplicate.. not many fighters have gone thru a lineup like this. We dont kill Duran for going 1-and 2 against SRL, SRL, Benitez..as close a replicate of three tough fights there is within 2 years. By no means Im comparing Pac to Duran

furthermore...we cannot be presumtuous to say that Floyd fights 3 elite HOF level guys in a row and come out undefeated

 

Truth be known its not always about who you beat but also when you beat them............the first win over Barrera was his most impressive win and the last one no one even expected the fight to even be competitive so it meant little....hos two wins over a shopworn Morales means little to nothing to me considering Morales beat him the first time around and Morales has been declining for sometime prior to the last 2 fights with Pac-man...The draw was fair in the JMM fight.

The fact is besides the first Barrera fight and the last Morales fight he has struggled mightily with all his top flight competition, wheras Mayweather has been held close one time and beat Castillo convincingly the second time around. Thats what makes Mayweather the best p4p....he has natural talent just like Pac-Man but the ring generalship and skill to boot.

 

Well if he beats Hatton, that would be 2 HOF level guys in a row, with Cotto on the horizon

 

But is Hatton a HOF fighter?

 

Pacquiao didn't fight all 3 in a row though.

 

what does me being a fan has to do with this thread??????when have I ever been biased towards a fighter??? Whatever I post I include facts not just empty biased posts like some of these other ******s on here. Anyway, if we are going to penalize Mayweather we should also penalize Sugar Ray Leonard(who is my favorite fighter all-time FYI) who hardly ever defended titles while collecting them as well as other great fighters BEFORE THEM..

Hatton no...Cotto has the "potential" to be in p4p level of MAB, Erik, JMM in their primes

 

Bull**** get Pacs nuts out of your mouth, MAB won the early rounds and it was a very close fight, MAB threw the better harder shots in the early going and Pac against MAB was frankly poor, easy to hit, inaccurate with his shots with horrible footwork. He was even gassed and lacking workrate

Pacs past prime now and loses to Guzman or Juan Diaz and maybe JMM (whos also past it)- so hes not P4P ability wise anymore

 

within a couple of years..who cares about 3k battery..albeit in saying that he gave Steve Molitor all he could handle up here in Ontario 2 months ago.

Ok, but within a couple of years PBF fought Corrales and Castillo 2x with no losses. Toss in Jesus Chavez and Carlos Hernandez in between. See what I'm sayin?

 

Diego, Castillo..not in the same level of MAB, JMM, Erik..and i love Diego
the latter three will always be percieved higher. BTW as much as we say that PAC was schooled by JMM and JMM won that fight.. I can say with a straighter face that JLC won that 1st fight

 

We agree to disagree but what fighters today can baoast beating over 10 champions at 5 different weight??????NONE.....thats why Mayweather sets atop the p4p rankings.
