Good points but I could say that whilst Morales was past prime on the 2nd fight, Corrales has not entered prime either when he fought Floyd. I believe he was not yet with Goosen and all his big fights came after Floyd. JMM though not as great in the ATG list is considered to be equal to MAB & Morales H2H and even at the age of 34 sits at #4 p4p so just imagine where he would be at his absolute prime if #p4p was simply a H2H basis. I dont believe either Castillo or Corrales ever reached #4 p4p either.

 

Cotto looks special and that may be true but as it is now, its just pure speculation. He has a long long way to go. MAB & Morales are arguably top 5 greatest mexican fighters of all time.

Dmelecious - Pac came up 6 divisions, PBF 5 divisions. So in a strict sense of who has gone up the most weight divisions that still goes to pac.

 

You failed to mentioned that MAB was beaten by JMM, Morales by Pac himself, Larios by Vasquez, while ODLH beat an outmatched Mayroga, Mitchell against who? and for the record, Baldo can be likened to david Diaz in terms of skills and styles, and both of them are beltholder.

You can say MAB, Larios, EM were beaten by high level fighters as opposed to Dela Hoya, Mitchell, Baldo who beat either overmatched opponents.

 

As of now, it seems JMM would be the choice of team Pac instead of David Diaz.

As for the level of comp recently, I'd say they are both, more or less, equal.

MAB = Oscar. Oscar was inactive in the last few years, and that Mayroga fight was only a showcase for his next big fight, while MAB was in a string of victories, and was only defeated by JMM, who is also a p4p boxer.

Mitchell, who was already beaten twice by Tyzsu, would always be lesser to any faded version of Morales.

And you have Baldo, who in a way, is like David Diaz, whom is being considered as a potential fight for Pac, and who is being crticzed as a paper champion. In short, Baldo is no more a threat as Diaz, and that says something.

As for Zab, he came from an upset loss to Baldo, and him fighting PBF can be compared to Pac figthing Solis and Oscar, who were just "tune-up" fights for Pac. An unbeaten, good prospect with skills and height advantage and a proven veteran in Larios, who defeated Hussein handily, (the one who KD'd Pac before) and though lost to Vasquez prior to the Pac fight for your tune-up fights I think equals the level of comp offered by the enigmatic Zab.

It is just that Pac's p4p surged to no. 2 on the strength of the way he demolished Morales' chin for two consecutive fights.

 

Even if Pacquiao clearly overcomes Diaz ( and I doubt it) and Mayweather narrowly over Hatton, it'll all depend on Mayweather's decision about who should be his next opponent - I don't think that Pac can be entitled as the best fighter in the world if Mayweather doesn't lose (or draw) unless Pac takes on Juan Diaz and knocks him out...
