Bisping was a kickboxer too so he knows all about the scene. I personally try to stay as close to my weight class as I can year round and I've been doing a cracking job of it so far. I've got visible abs in the right lighting but nothing totally shredded which I think is the right range to be in. My stamina just so happens to be probably my best trait.
Same, it just feels better to eat healthy for me and I don't have to cook/spend money to eat out that much bc I'm too lazy/poor to do either.
They both have terrible physiques in terms of aesthetics but so does basically everybody over 6'6". Wilders waist is 36 inches despite being very low bodyfat. His thighs are 17 inches. So his waist is more than double the size of his legs. He looks ridiculous.
I spend way too much of my money on eating out haha, one of my vices. I'm one of those lucky people who can eat whatever the hell I like with little to no repercussions.
People who know, know. Fury is fit, he aint no world class athlete. Fury is natuarally the size he is, he doesnt need to bulk up. His whole skeletal structure is massive compared to the other heavyweights. He doesnt carry much more muscle than his body is supposed to. Fury has decent stamina, the reason he doesnt gas is cos he doesnt carry more muscle than his body ie. heart and lungs can deal with. On top of this he has two other qualities, he is very composed. This means he is efficient and very rythmical, has instinctive feet that he is light on, nithing is forced. He doesnt fear gettimg hit, he is very relaxed and wastes no energy at all. He feels at home in the ring. The other factor is he knows exactly how to use his huge frame, how to lean on and use it to tire other fighters, he is always in total control. With his size he doesnt need to load up. This is how it appears he has better stamina than he does. He is fit yes, but he aint no world class athlete
I wish I could get a bit heavier honestly. However, no matter how much protein powder I eat and how much I work out, I have never been actually "ripped" that was before quarantine killed my lifting schedule although I'm getting back into it haha.
My point was just that there is more than one way of being athletic. A sumo wrestler is an athlete, and built exactly for what they need to do. I do accept what you're saying but a boxer doesn't have to look like either AJ or Pacquiao to be either an athlete or to be the right shape/size for their job, and there's more to being an athlete than stamina (which would do Usain Bolt no good, for instance).
Id argue otherwise id say what i wrote means he doesnt have to be a world class athlete. I am not saying he aint fit, he is and hia body has spent a lifetime of physical work. But he aint world class athletically.. Cmon
I've always thought Bud Crawford was about as ideal as you get. A lightweight with the reach of a light heavyweight? That's basically unbeatable in the modern sub-HW era where weight management is a huge part of success. At HW I'm not so sure, I'm hopeful that Usyk might show a way out of the dreadnought class HWs but it will probably never hurt to be bigger.
