I never said Pac had bad timing. Just not the best in the sport. There are other factors to his game as to why he had so much success as of late. But having good timing and having the best timing in boxing are different cases.. *******.

My view? I'm not influenced by Mayweather's other incredible strengths. They don't bleed into my views on his timing. Although, I must say I can sympathize with anyone who may have any misconceptions.

good post. this is what i explained earlier on why i said pac is not too far off. it's because of pac's style that we think floyd easily has the better timing, but if pac just, chooses his shots well, like floyd does, i would not be surprised that his accuracy would shot-up more. if you can also see what he did to barrera the 2nd time around, his timing was also superb as much as his last 4/5 fights.

hmmm, just read your post below as well. so you think it's pac's style that's influencing the decision. i guess pac's aggression clouds his timing while mayweathers craftmanship accentuates his

Landing 37% of your punches in a fight is not good accuracy..

Hey the little guy's timing is fantastic, I'm taking nothing away from him, but that leading left hook followed by the roll under to the left from Mayweather is a thing of beauty.

The victory against Hatton was down to a few factors that rate above his timing.

    Abundance of punches.
Hatton not having a clue what to do when plan A wasn't working.
    Pacquiao's relentlessness.
But most of all Roach's spotting a weakness in Hatton that suited Manny's style PERFECTLY, when Hatton comes into jab lead right hook roll under, worked a ****ing charm. Basically Hatton didn't have a clue how to handle a great southpaw.

Pacquiao throws combinations, flurries, and can goes nuts every now and then throughout fights. Floyd potshots and waits until he sees an opening or until a guy leaves himself open like people have said.

Recently, Pac hasn't just countered after a guy has thrown a punch (ex: slipping a jab and countering with a right hand, pulling back after a guy throws a jab and countering over the top, or going under a hook and countering), he's been able to pick up on a guy throwing a shot, and thus beaten them to the intended target. Watch him do it with Cottos jab early on and with left hooks recently. Cotto is in the process of throwing his left hook, Pac hasn't thrown yet, but lands a right hook well before Cotto can get his there, but by the time he does, Pac has already moved under and away at an angle. He's done this kind of stuff in all of his recent fights.

That's probably not worded well, but whatever....I've been thinking recently how Pac's timing has improved from even the days when he was beating up on Solis and Larios. It's insane now, but he also throws some wild **** in there that makes his connect #'s drop. Floyd has great timing as well, no knock on him by me...

it's a good point actually. we all have a notion that counterpunchers have the best timing because of their style needs it but offensive guys displays some superb timing as well. arguello comes to my mind.

I'd say the last two fights from each guy, which would bring us CURRENT, should leave no question to this question. Of course, I understand general perception plays a big part, in general. If I were to ask a crop of individuals familiar with the science and mechanics of the sport who had no knowledge of who Pacquiao and Mayweather were after seeing their last series of respective fights I have NO DOUBT who they would be picking. It's a NO BRAINER. Intelligence is measured by adaptability and changing circumstances in life, just as it is measured in the boxing ring. This is where most people FAIL. :thumbsup
