Timing gets overlooked. However, I don't know how that other than the KO Froch demonstrated superior timing. Most the time George was hitting him coming in, even being able to outjab froch with his 3 inch reach advantage and slight height advantage...

I guess the KO was what matters in the end, but I don't think Groves had bad timing really... When Froch attacked him Froch wasn't landing beatifully timed shot's that groves was walking into, Froch was clubbing Groves body on the ropes.

But yeah the KO itself was a great timing shot, but the rest of Froches punches really were just hard combos to the body and a few well timed jabs here and there.

I would argue Ward's success mostly relied on his command of distance. Froch himself mentioned something to the effect that he "was either too close, or too far away".

That said, Froch does have very good timing, especially for his style. I think he also has underrated ring intelligence, as noted earlier in another thread topic floating around.

Mayweather is good at it, no doubt, but how good is hard to tell as he's about always the much quicker and faster fighter.

Timing is important against a faster opponent and Froch has good timing but I think people are exaggerating his timing a bit. In the 2nd Groves fight Froch's timing worked very well but in the 1st fight Groves was the one timing Froch. Froch has been timed and tagged many times. What also often helps Froch win fights is his durability, strength, stamina, reach and willingness to take a punch to land a punch.

Against Bute he was willing to take one to give one, he walked through Bute's punches because of his good chin and KO'd Bute because of Bute's bad chin.

Against Taylor he won because Taylor gassed badly
