I have a card posted here somewhere, I can't remember if its 115-113 or 115-114 Leonard BTW IIRC Leonard waved to the crowd twice in that fight.
It's one of those fights where you wish you could just jump through the TV Stand southpaw! A bit like Leonard vs Duran II - don't quit!! It's close atsch
I personally think Leonard was boxing very well in the Duran fight, winning rounds and frustrating him. Whatever the reasons, I think Leonard would've went onto win that fairly comfortably going with the ebb and flow when it finished. Duran was fleshy compared to the first fight :deal
Leonard had shown great stamina at 147, I don't think that version of Duran would have started to get to him. It was headed for a comfortable points win for Leonard IMHO.
I think Leonard would have won clearly as well..... but it was a strange decision to quit. My only thought is that Duran probably thought Leonard was being a pansy and decided he didn't want to play those sorts of games because he was a ''proper'' fighter.... when in fact it was opposite. I bet Leonard was like that, comes across as a nice enough sort but inside a bit of a twat with one of those faces you just want to crack :nut
What that Duran wasn't a 'proper fighter' (can't see you saying that mate) or that Leonard wasn't being a 'pansy' by frustrating Duran. It might just me being stoned, but being you, I must've totally misinterpreted this whole sentence. Please advise:good Leonard had a million dollar smile, but like the previous Sugar Ray, was a wife beater.
To clarify.... Duran saw Leonard as acting like a sissy, (which is debatable) and decided that as a proper fighter himself (not debatable) he shouldn't lower himself to that sort of level. It was easier to walk away than to go along with the charade, in his eyes..... when to everyone else it looked like a ***** move, out of embarrassment.
atsch I understand entirely. I know, it actually made him look like what he detested. Now there are people saying Floyd could frustrate and outmanouever him, just based on that:rofl:nut
As you know I'm a Floyd fan..... Duran is probably underestimated in a lot of areas, his defence for a pressure fighter was generally good (except against Hearns ) - and he was smart with it..... Mayweather wouldn't fight Duran in the same way that Leonard did, though I could see Duran being made to miss quite a lot, especially early. I'd have Mayweather beating the Leonard II version, potshotting to a UD.
floyds got a good 0 he,s beat a lot of very good fighters, but paqiuo, is considered a great as well, so it doesen't mean everything, people know a great fighter when they see one.
I think Duran would outslick, outbox and beat up Floyd. More proven boxer (notice I didn't say fighter) and can you imagine Floyd surviving Hands of Stone? His right hand was sharper and more accurate than Shanes, and when he had a man hurt....wow, Floyds would get annihilated. In my opinion :good
Floyd Mayweather would beat Duran, Floyd Mayweather is a by far better fighter. People compare Pacman to Duran..? Mayweather is gonna beat down and TKO Pacman.. Jeeeezzz
Duran would humiliate Floyd Kool. Are you on crack. Leonard would beat him handily and so would hearns. Don't get carried away.
The saddest thing is, you're no alias. Just an absolute mong with little clue about boxing. I'd love to know how Floyd is a 'far better fighter' Kool. Ability? No. Resume? No. He hasn't even got weight jumping on Duran, who actually fought THE men in the divisions he fought in. Let me guess 'Duran was beaten by Joppy' :rofl
