Gimbatov won by TKO1. Dryuchin got off to a good start with fast combos, but Gimbatov dropped him midway through the round with a good short right hand and then finished him off.
Gimbatov just won by first round TKO, after Dryuchin came out firing out of all cylinders. Hurt him to the body and then caught him with a nice right hand. Dryuchin got back up but was stopped standing shortly afterwards.
Dryuchin was going after Gimbatov with all his might in the beginning of the round but was too gassed to hurt Gimbatov. He knocked down Dryuchin with a shot to the chin, Dryuchin was hurt after that. Gimbatov threw a huge amount of punches before the ref stopped the fight. Decent win for Gimbatov.
My take: Dryuchin came out nonstop punching haymakers going upstairs, downstairs, upstairs, downstairs. Gimbatov makes a tactical withdrawal to a corner. Dryuchin follows continuing his blitzkrieg. Gimbatov avoids taking too much damage and patiently waits for Dryuchin to burn out. Halfway through the round Dryuchin slows and Gimbatov fires a well timed right hand the lands perfectly on Dryuchin's chin. Down goes Dryuchin. Now it's Gimbatov's turn to blitz. He corners Dryuchin and pummels him with fast combinations. The referee intercedes and saves Dryuchin from further damage. Maybe Gimbatov isn't a David Tua caliber banger but he is a solid accurate puncher that at least has 'respect me' power. He probably has more punching power than Francois Botha or Chris Byrd. Most likely closer to Holyfield or Moorer.
Gimbatov, at the very least, seems to have good power, how good is still yet to be determined. Maybe he's a bigger puncher than some think, maybe not, time will tell. However, the first thing that struck me about is him is he has skills and he can fight. He looks very comfortable in there and he seems well rounded and appears to possess a stout beard. Likewise the first thing that was apparent to me within seconds of seeing Dryuchin in action is he cannot fight. Same goes for Donkeypotamus Wilder who is just a huge guy with the reach of an orangutan and an equalizer in his right hand.
Gimbatov is skilled, no doubt. But he needs to start faster in his upcoming fights, he did it in the 1 fight and 2 but failed to do so in his 3 pro fight. His power and inside fighting skills are the assets which can carry him far but a slow start in fights can drown him.
To me, Gimbatov seems to fall somewhere between Holyfield and Moorer as far as skill and overall ability. Would that be enough to win a heavyweight title these days?
Secola looks pretty dangerous from the brief footage I've seen of him. Looks like he packs a big punch and he has ambitions of his own. He's a southpaw, too. This content is protected
