The irony is that the Americans love this fight!

Joe will be stripped of the belts meaning the payday with Pavlik would be LESS. If he was going to fight twice more, he chose the wrong order. He wants NO part of Pavlik. Simple as that.

    Thanks didn't know that :good

Why would someone risk coming in at 168 if the fight was at 175 though?

Then what the HECK is so hard for you to understand that Joe is fighting Jones now get over that **** and hope that Pavlik eventually lands a fight with double A before the year is over !!!

Warren was the one who really wanted it more not Joe get over that as well!

Joe has has cleaned out the 168 lb divisons why the hell would he fear the barley tested Kelly Pavlik ?Because you say so ??? No one needs to make excuses for him he's already cemented his legacy whats kelly's ? Jermain Taylor ??? Enlighten me ????

Seriously, no offense to Kelly but he hasn't established himself as the undisputed top middle in the world so all this downing of Calzaghe as having to figh him is a joke. Joe Calzaghe, wether some people want to admit it or not, is a great fighter. He will go down as one of the greatest of his generation, and his current reign is unmatched by anyone but Hopkins in this last era.

Kelly needs to fight AA, if he wins then we can talk about how he would do at 168. Everyone should remember though that the biggest reason Arum and Kelly are playing the waiting game with Abraham is that it is much harder for Arthur to make 160 then it is for Kelly.

You know I would never disrespect Kelly but his fans are getting as annoying as the Pacquio fans ..His fights with Miranda and Taylor were instant classics whats not to like about him ..But like you said he needs to establish himself as the top middle some here beleive he's the best fighter from 160 to 175 :nut He's got along way to go before he can honestly be mentioned with the likes of Joe ..Joe calling him out only raised his stock as im sure anyone who didn't know Kelly wondered why he would even consider him ..I look forward to him unifying the division as I know he would fight anyone ..And right now this is the course he needs to take ..

If Pavlik is not yet established, why is Joe blatantly ducking him in favor of one more opponent from the nursing home division. Joe does not deserve your loyalty.

Because Roy's last fight did 500,000 PPV buys and he is more well known than Kelly on both sides of the pond and is therefore a much bigger payday. Kelly has yet to break the 1.1 million mark for viewers. Hell he isn't even the biggest draw at middleweight, both Abraham and Sturm have consistently larger gates with consistently larger TV audiences and consistently higher pay.

Calzaghe is capable of not only beating Jones by a lopsided decision or tko, but also of putting on his career best performance in outclassing Pavlik as well. He possibly would retire after that.

    Sven Ottke?

Similar record in the same weight division and most of it was at the same time Calzaghe was champion.

Apparantly Joe would disagree with you. Your boy has webbed feet and a bill, deal with it.

Boxing, like any other sport, is a business. Roy was champ at 160, 168, 175 and picked up a title at 200+, he is the more recognizable name, he actually has had fights at 175 recently (Kelly never has), and he brings more money. It is a simple matter of Joe looking for another big payday before he retires.

Now instead of bitching about Joe wanting to fight Roy, why don't you direct the same criticism to Kelly for not wanting to fight Abraham? We all know Abraham will dispatch of Marquez quickly and that Kelly is looking for a keep busy, why not just fight Abraham at the end of 08 instead of stalling so it gets even harder for him to make weight in 09?

Ok you got me there, forgot about Sven. I would argue that Joe is better than Sven though, shame they never settled it though.
