people hate him for a reason jacory. as a die hard fan of floyd, you should have learned to accept this by now. not everyone, not the majority, will have the same liking as you do for floyd. not everyone will have the same enthusiasm about his ppv numbers as well.

I say age & evident decline will make any boxer irrelevant at some point.
Mayweather is no exception @ 34/35+ by the time he decides to fight again....

To the TS, it is hard to appreciate floyd's quiet time when people continue to start threads about him, even when he is irrelevant as you said thus showing how relevant he is.

I love Floyds out of ring antics. Hes always entertaining.

What I hate about him is ducking Pacquiao blatantly w/o refuting any of the coward accusations of him.

So basically I judge him as fighter, he needs to have more heart and courage.

I agree with the hypocrisy of posting a thread about how irrelevant someone is. That can't be denied.

I guess I was just trying to express my feelings on how although I noticed he was gone, I really don't care that he is.

With his absence, along with his outside the ring actions, I just don't see him as a complete package any longer.

Because of his outside of the ring actions, his only chance at redemption in the eyes of the public in hopes of still being somewhat marketable is to

    1) Fight Paquaio
    2) Knock his ass out
    3) Be extremely humble after doing so
    4) Grant the rematch
    5) Win a points decision
    6) Be extremely humble after doing so

    Otherwise, it's all over.
If he fights anyone else, he's a coward.
If he wins and humble, he's an *******.
If he doesn't grant a rematch, he's a coward (and folks will think he's still afraid).

It's sad to watch a person become lonely and cry for help like Floyd is doing. (personally to me, maybe not to the him).

He really could have been the cross-over star he dreamed of being which would have allowed him to earn fortunes well after his fighting days, but that's not to be the case anymore. The money's from his fights aren't going to last him forever. There are rumors he already lost his fortune once. 10-15 years from now, he'll declare bankruptcy. Of course he will. He'll fight till he's forty, have about 3-5 loses and then retire after a brutal knockout. We all see this coming.

Does anyone really think he is stable enough to maintain his wealth?

At least give Roy some credit.
He loves the fight game, doesn't mind getting knocked out every once in awhile now and will most likely live comfortably once his career finaly ends.

Not so much with 'lil Floyd....

Damn youre all over the place, no one cares if Floyd is nice or not!

What we need him to do is fight Pacquiao instead of deliberately getting himself into trouble in order to avoid a fight next year.

Because if he doesnt fight Pac next year then his career is over and his legacy will be reduced to that of Terry Norris.

Floyd will never be a crossover athlete because of his antics. Most people can't relate to his personality, unless they're black or into hip-hop culture. He can only make headlines by being controversial, and its always going to be that way because he has put himself in that hole. No one can deny his talent, but he truly is a shitty excuse for a human being and people generally don't like their athletes that way regardless how talented they are.

Can anyone smell a Mayweather hater posing as a fan?

Let's be honest. Floyd is very relevant to the sport of boxing. He brings something to the sport that is quite rare, in this time...a COMPLETE mastery of the ART of boxing. He has a gift...if you cannot acknowledge that, you are a hater. You may not favor his style. But, you cannot deny...it IS effective.

He has his issues outside the sport, but, many great athletes have. Sugar Ray Robinson, the GOAT to many...he was a woman beater. Sugar Ray Leonard, an ATG...he was a woman beater. Mike Tyson, an ATG...he had a host of issues. Ali, the GOAT to many...he was a womanizer. Let's go outside of boxing. Micheal Jordan, the GOAT in basketball to many...a womanizer, excessive gambler, etc. Tiger Woods, on route to be the GOAT in golf...a womanizer.

Why do we appreciate ANY of these athletes? Because, they have all done amazing things before our eyes, in their respective sports. It has less to do with who they are/were outside of that. None of them are flawless, as people, but, they have mastered their respective crafts. This is what makes them great. I'm not excusing any of these guys for their negative behavior. I just know why I appreciate each of them.

Therefore, I don't have to apologize for being a fan of Floyd. I admire his amazing talent, and unwavering dedication and preparation on display for each and every one of his fights. What he does outside the ring, will not change that.
