Nah, unfinished business with Beterbiev trumps a Mando against Benny I love David B but the trilogy takes precedent, I've personally got it 2-0 Bivol, if those were the actual results I'd rather see the Benavídez fight, but at 1-1 they need to settle
I must be one of the few people that doesn't want to see a trilogy. For me Bivol has already proved he's clearly better than Beterbiev over the 2 fights. The 1st fight Bivol was largely in control until he faded in the last few rounds making it closer but I still thought Bivol looked overall better. But the 2nd fight Bivol clearly distanced himself from Beterbiev winning rather comfortably in the region of 8-4 I don't think it was that competitive at all. It was basically a repeat of the 1st fight except Beterbiev didn't finish strong in the last 2 or 3 rounds. Beterbiev did considerably worse in the rematch and only landed 17 percent of his punches. Bivol has got his number and for me has clearly demonstrated he's the better man.
Bivol has already proven he's the better man. Beterbiev was lucky the 1st time he got outboxed for a majority of the fight and was fortunate to get the decision in which was more than likely a draw or 7-5 Bivol. The 2nd fight was a repeat of the 1st fight without Beterbiev having a strong finish in the last 2 rounds. It was a comprehensive win for Bivol and Beterbiev did significantly worse and landed at an abysmal 17 percent of his punches. It's quite clear Bivol is the better man over their 2 fights.
I would think anyone that knows anything about this situation understands that this is entirely Turkis doing, and that Bivol is moreso simply preserving his partnership with Turki than ducking David. That being said, I am going to call it a duck regardless. Ive never accepted business excuses for ducks before and this is no exception just because I like Bivol and the circumstances are understandable, business wise. Its a duck. The silver lining here is this isnt a case where Davids going to age out or theres any severe consequences to the duck. Hopefully Bivol can get Beterbiev out of the way and then get to the David fight... in which case this duck will become rather meaningless.
Many people seem to be acting like the fight is completely off now because Benavidez has his belt but in reality, if they both win their next fights, the Bivol Benavidez fight will be even bigger and for unification. Sadly from what I have been hearing from Bivol's camp he has his eyes on other opponents and divisions after Beterbiev.
Just seen that supposedly Bivol had a contract already in place where his next fight would be with Turki... if thats the case its much less of a duck than I thought, means Bivol doesnt have the choice people thinks he does unless he wants to try and break a contract with one (the) of his biggest business partners.
i could tolerate the smell of the situation a bit better if it hadnt taken bivol 8 years to fight the most obvious threat to his throne already. he hasnt really exuded ambition in his career. which makes me feel like he would be fine with never facing david. which sucks for me as a fan.
The problem with that is, in the multiple interviews after the fight, with Bivol, Hearn, and Bivols manager, they all talked about all the possible options Bivol had for his next fight, yet now suddenly last week Hearn mentions they were locked to a contract. It makes no sense, which means its likely a lie from Hearn. 3 min mark, does not sound like Bivol is bound to a rematch contract. This content is protected
Bivol is not ducking Benavidez he is doing the gentleman thing and giving Beterbiev a rematch returning the favour. The only ones ducking the Mexican Monster are Canelo and The Charlo Chicken.
