Calzaghe was a better boxer overall and his jab was an accurate, frustrating little punch and he could win fights against some opponents while barely using his left at all. When he injured his left hand against Evans Ashira, he basically won every round using that little jab. It was far less effective at the top level, but it was very good against lesser opponents. HOWEVER, Quartey had a great jab that was pretty much perfect in every respect: powerful, accurate, cutting and by no means an arm punch. If every fight was just a jab contest and all other punches were outlawed, Quartey would have never lost. An analogy would be this: Wladimir Klitschko is better at hooking off the jab than Manny Pacquiao, even though Manny Pacquiao is a much better boxer overall. Some boxers just have particular gifts.
Joe would win easily, and rightly so. He had much better handspeed than Quartey. And Quartey had a much better jab than Calzaghe. I agree with you on both counts.
Anyone who doesnt think Ike had a great jab, needs to watch more Ike fights. I rate Ikes jab above JC's, no question.
:deal exactly what I said to popkins, who thinks he's the ****ing boxing police and only he can decide who knows boxing and who doesnt, I said Calzaghes was more substantial in the he used it in different ways, and in more ways, also, popkins knows how this is going to go seeing as the general forum is calzaghe hate city
