    So why aren't they doing it today, after all it's just man against man with his fists like it always was...

    Maybe the moves take a lot of practice to perfect or get right to a point where they are very effective in an actual fight.

    Yep or maybe some trainers don't even bother teaching the move in the first place.

    The thing is really good trainers were a dime a dozen back 30+ years (or more) ago. A higher percentage of boxers had really good tuition right from the start due to this. There are still some really good trainers about but nothing like there was well prior.

    Having excellemt technique and moves ingrained early in ones career is invaluable.
