 Wlad ducked Toney too, when he faced the punching bag Chagaev. So, it goes both ways.

Dumb stupid nuthuggery. Toney was respectable for a blown up middle/suppermiddleweight. He looked great against the most shot version of Holyfield ever. Toney is an undersized, very skilled defensive artist with little power. Chris Byrd is that type of fighter and Chris Byrd would have easily beaten that shot version of Holyfield. In fact, Byrd beat a better version of Holy. Wlad beats the Byrd/Toney type of undersozed fighter every time. Wlad has underrated speed, of course he doesn't look as fast to the naked eye, just as we don't think a 747 is faster than a small cessna but of course it is. Tall fighters are not easy to appreciate for speed. The only fighter ever who used speed effectively against Wlad was Sanders, a 6'4 southpaw with long arms. The distance he had to bridge was nothing compared to the distance Toney would have to overcome. Toney isn't faster than Sanders. Wlad could take his punches all night long. I don't believe Toney hits harder that Thompson and Thompson landed more shots on Wlad than any fighter before and it didn't affect him.

Yes Toney never had a chance against Wlad, even during his prime. Wlad is just too big and Toney too small and we all saw what he did with smaller opponents... And let's face it, Holyfield was already declining at that time... Toney will dislocate his shoulder if he tries to roll Wlad's jab a whole night!!

I think it's just a matter of size. Toney's skill is/was great, one of the best during his era, but his step up to the heavy's is sometimes a doubtfull succes?? He should've stayed at cruiser or compete at lightheavy... His problem is that heavyweight contenders tends to be bigger nowadays. Chris Byrd was succesful, had good skill and Byrd was a small heavyweight. You see how he struggled against Mccline a bigger heavyweight and Mccline wasn't that great. Byrd was defeated twice by Wlad and if Vitali wasn't injured... Though Byrd's skill from time to time couldn't be denied. But he has the same problem as with Toney, he is too small...

While it's true that Holyfield was some years past his best and had shoulder problems, Toney should still get credit for beating him. I know that Chris Byrd and Larry Donald beat Holy too, but Toney totally dominated him from round two on and stopped him. Nobody else has ever done that to Holyfield, not before and not after the Toney fight. The only other man to ever stop Holy was Riddick Bowe, but in no way did Bowe dominate Holyfield in that 3rd fight until he caught him. In fact, Holyfield was getting the upper hand, Bowe was lucky he KOed him. Holyfield was still regarded as a top5 HW in 2003 when he faced Toney, and he was tought to be the huge favourite. Toney came from a great performance against Jirov, but people never tought he could do that to Holyfield.

Toney proved in his subsequent fights against Ruiz and Guinn that he can outbox other HWs besides Holyfield. He also proved that in the first Sam Peter fight, which was a robbery. Now of course I know that Wlad is a much bigger, stronger, taller and not at least better HW than Ruiz or Peter; but my point is that people should not take away Toneys accomplishments at HW. But overall his run at HW was very uneven and disappointing, even I have to admit that.

Current Toney = Low risk, proves **** fight for Wlad. In that sense, yeah he ducked him before getting accused of beating a washed up, past prime legend...

It’s not like it is impossible to imagine that Toney beating Wlad.

Didn’t you think that even inactive Chagaev would beat Wladimir two times out of five?

Now obviously Wladimir should be a favorite but that version of Toney would have good change of upsetting him.

No doubt I'm serious. Go through all of my posts and you will see I am a respected poster and budding historian. I really don't rate Wlad at all, whereas that Toney was full of ambition, and although Holyfield was very ponderous late on and much shorter than Wlad, he gave Toney more of a fight in the first two rounds than Wlad would the whole fight.

You think THAT Toney would just sit around and get jabbed to death? Nope he'd force the action, and more effectively than Chagaev/Thompson etc etc IMO.

To the man below who says no one could be that stupid; you have an avatar of Brock Lesnar? Therefore you're in no position to judge me.
