Last night Jean Pascal showed once again that hes one of the real warriors and real fighters in boxing today. When some fighters talk about how they are warriors and how they fight till the end and then go and give a "Just happy to be here" kind of performance is refreshing to see someone like Pascal putting all on the line and go for it even though he was up against a more skilled fighter and a guy who might well be pound for pound the hardest puncher in boxing today, even after geting hurt Pascal kept trying his hardest to win but Kovalev just wasnt gonna be denied of victory. In order for one to win someone must lose and even though a loss is a loss and its not good when you lose there are different ways to lose and the way Pascal lost giving his all and fighting till the end giving the fans an exciting fight while it lasted is the way to go and must be given lots of credit and be showned some appreciation from us boxing fans. IMO Pascal gained more respect yesterday in a losing effort than he got in some of his best wins. Here's to you Jean Pascal :cheers And i'm looking forward to your next fight.
I liked him since I saw this, although he did behave like a bit of a **** during the lead up to this fight. Thought he was classy in his post-fight interview after the Froch fight. [YT]gUZNQcKlp0g[/YT]
Pascal tried his best, showed heart. I hope HBO will show more of his fight since he always give good fight when the opponent is to his level or higher. The guy have an incredible resume also. Froch, Diaconnu x2, Dawson, Bute, Hopkins 2x, and now Kovalev. In an area where guys cherry pick opponents, Pascal have been in there with the best giving everything and pulling great fights, fans friendly fights. And even though he trash talk, it always seem fake, like he trying to be the mean guy that he isn't.
Pascal is full of siht, but in a good way. Loads of heart and willing to put it all on the line against anybody. His trash talking and posturing in the build up is as fake as fcuk and totally transparent, but hey the guy is just being professional and trying to sell the fight. Big respect Jean.
I really thought that fight set the bar pretty high for the rest of the fights in 2015. Both fighters got tested. So much back and forth. Pascal did an amazing job to get himself back in that fight for a couple of rounds. I was really worried Kovalev would go down with one of those looping counter hooks. A lot of standing on my feet during the fight (even though I was just in my living room).
He's a brave dude, that's for sure, I mean against Bute at the end he just stood there in the corner taking all Bute's dishing out lol.
in my eyes hes better than Taylor Taylor kinda rode on the "i beat bhop" Express and then post his first loss against Pavlik fell apart Pascal after his first loss won a belt against the consenseus number one in the division before losing to Bhop then after that comes back with that kind of performance Pascal has more Power, Heart and considering he hasnt beat up any prostitutes, shot any family members or threatened any children with firearms id say he has more brain cells left too
Fighters bring their kids to watch them fight all the time. It may not be something that I would do but I'm not to call Pascal a bad father because he did so. His daughter sees him training in the gym and may have wanted to watch him fight. In my opinion, there are a lot worse things fathers can do then let their kids watch them work.
I respect his warrior mentality, also some of his antics in the buildup towards his fights are hilarious (see his trash talking with Bernard on Kellerman's Face Off)
