OK guys, so we all know what the Pacman did to DLH and I'm sure plenty of us were  while watching.. So now that there are calls for Pacman/Hatton and Pacman/Mayweather, it looks like JMM will have to wait a year or so to get his next shot at Pac. JMM gave Pac much better fights then DLH (obviously) and many (including me for the 2nd fight, 1st a draw in my eyes) believe that JMM won.

So now, how do you guys think JMM would fair if he was weight jumping like his rival? You think he can beat DLH? Hatton? Mayweather (yeah right..)? If not, why? I think Pac's style is what allows him to jump weight, along with his power which might not be KO power at 140/147 but it still commends respect. JMM's technical style, lack of power AND size does not belong in any weight class above 135 IMO. But that's the problem in my eyes, in boxing, the aggressive fighter jumping weight usually has trouble b/c his power/regular advantages diminish whereas the technician usually fares better because they can keep the fight in the middle and neutralize the bigger man's power by movement, defense, etc.

So now we have a 5"6 guy who can jump weight and STILL fight non-stop, aggressive straight forward style, and win? :nut But at the same time, when he's facing someone who's his size with amazing technique and ring intelligence, he has a tough time!

This is why I think it's a dilemma, is JMM THAT good? Can Pacman's win over DLH be overrated b/c DLH's shot? Or can JMM do what Pacman is doing now?

Either way, I'm HYPED for a third fight between the 2! More so then Pacman/Hatton, which also promises to be an exciting affair and will give us a clear indication of whether or not DLH was just too old.

Pac has a chance to beat Hatton but he would not beat Mayweather

No **** Sherlock! But that's what I'm trying to say, in theory, style wise JMM should be the one who's able to jump weight because he has a technical sound style so he can box bigger guys. But it's Pacman, who's aggressive, non-stop who's jumping weight and dominating! Pacman, in theory, should be getting KTFO at 147!

You have to look at their frames, too. Pacquiao puts on muscle very well and carries it in his calves, shoulders, etc. JMM has a much thinner frame suited for the lower classes. He would not be able to bring his power and physical strength up to weights higher than 135.

You answered your own question. Some fighters have it in them to expand their skills at higher weights, and basically become far different fighters than they were at lower weights, while some do not. It's almost impossible to break down what it is in particular that makes a fighter able to hat, suffice to say it is the truth. Bernard Hopkins fights differently and in some ways more dominately at LH, while Pavlik just gets his ass handed. Paul Williams expands his skills at the higher weight, Ricky Hatton just negates his advantages. All you can really say surely is that you have to be a VERY good fighter to be able to do it. But that in itself is not enough.

Yes, I think Pac's speed would cause Hatton a lot of problems. Especially the lateral movement he was showing off against DLH. JMM on the other hand, I dunno if he'd be able to handle Hatton's gritty, in your face, holding style (mainly because of the holding and how close Hatton likes to get while fighting).

That's true, although he didn't look THAT much bigger at 147, Pacman looked very healthy and his power definately held up.

I think Pavlik would actually be competitive at SMW and LHW, it's just his simple 1-2, 1-1-2 style was an insult to Bernard's experience against far superior fighters. What makes Pavlik special is his power, and B-Hop's chin is not gonna give out on him.

Pacman is a freak! he carries his speed and power from one weight class to another. That's where you separate great fighters from the rest.

That's the truth. If you're really a true P4P, you can move up a weight class and still dominate the competition. The greats can move up multiple weight classes and be champ.

This is why a guy like Ricky Hatton should not have any excuse for not being able to go up one weight class to fight a guy that isn't even a natural welter. He must feel stupid complaining about the weight against Floyd after seeing Pacquiao destroy DLH.

How can you say that JMM would'nt fair well above 135 lbs when he has'nt made the jump there yet?

What are you basing this opinion on?

From what I've seen, Marquez looked plenty strong in his fight with Joel Casamayor at 135 lbs......there is'nt an ounce of indication there that would tell us that 135 lbs would be the last line that JMM could cross.

Casamayor who has faced some of the biggest punchers at 130 and 135 lbs, Freitas, Corrales and Castillo........none of those guys could KO Casamayor, but JMM laid it on him and stopped him in impressive fashion.

What in JMM has given you an indication that he cant go beyond 135 lbs?
Was it that none of Casamayor's shots fazed him?:hey:D

He looks strong against a super old/shot fighter in casa! but it's very noticeable that his speed wasn't the same when he was in the lower weights and of course the chin factor... if he get's hit by a welter he's gonna get KD again.

The fact that he is also in his mid 30's i don't think he will be that competitive against bigger fighters.

Marquez still looked thin at 135, anything above and he would be at a physical disadvantage in terms of body mass. Pacquiao has much thicker legs and broader shoulders, he just looks like he fills out a lot better.

I think JMM would show signs of struggling with the stronger guys at 140 and would be at a severe size disadvantage at 147. His greatness is what allows him to knock out a Joel Casamayor(who, by the way, was very nearly knocked out by the now-exposed Michael Katsidis), but I still think he's a natural 130 guy.

He would whoop the **** out of David Diaz
He would outbox the crap out of oscar de la hoya at this point

I think Hatton and him would be one HELL of a fight... love to see it.

Mayweather is just too big... but if they were the same size i wouldnt mind seeing that fight... as it is though mayweather would beat him.

Funny that the shots in the JMM-Pac rematch in the 3rd that led to the knockdown, and the 10th that stunned Marquez a bit, were both shots on the button that were well placed.....hard shots in fact.......
.....yet for the most part of their rematch, Pac was unable to physically move JMM with his strenghth.

Take a good look at both those JMM-Pac fights.....the shots that felled Marquez had nothing to do with Physical strenghth, and all to do with punch placement.

......and in fact, the way JMM dictated tempo and pace in those fights, he looked to me to be the physically stronger fighter.

Pac throws that left of his with incredible torque that results in real power when he lands it......but as far as physical strenght is concerned, I dont see any real seperation or significant distinction between the two.

The way I look at it, we really have to be honest about both JMM and Pac as far as strenghth and power is concerned......none of the two has faced a bonafide A level fighter fighting at a high level beside eachother at any weight past 126 lbs.........the test for both will come when they face a fighter at or above 135 lbs thats fighting at a very high level and in their prime.......
.....to date, they've both been fighting fighters who are past prime and have'nt brought the energy that say a Hatton or a Mayweather would definitely bring.

I think for instance that JMM will outclass Juan Diaz, but it will definitely be interesting to see how Marquez handles the workrate and energy of a bonafide good lightweight in Juan Diaz.
