He put on a fun fight and showed a lot of heart. If you're pissed off about the title shot situation, make a thread shitting on the WBA and their faulty asses.

Actually didn´t watch the fight, sadly. I´d have loved to see Ruiz get whipped. I know he lost by TKO, maybe that doesn´t qualify as KOTFO, but KOTFO is hardly a strictly defined term.

One good and gutsy performance from Ruiz does not make up for the numerous horrible ones. His cheating, including, but not limited to excessive holding, his gift decisions and undeserved opportunities and his lousy complaints after losing fights do not go away that easily.

Some people find this thread to be in low class and of bad taste. Well how low class is it compared to the behavior of Norman Stone at any given fight? Is it lower class than faking a low blow to avoid getting KOed and then lowblowing your opponent back like Ruiz did in the second Holyfield fight? Is it in worse taste than the profanities screamed by Norman Stone before he got ejected from the Golota fight (which Ruiz got awarded as a gift decision)?

And at least I´m just posting a thread on a boxing forum where people are relatively anonymous. I´m not a fighter or a trainer on national TV tarnishing the sport of boxing like Ruiz and Norman Stone did so many times.

Hopkins sometimes fought dirty in his fights and he sometimes got criticized for it. But Hopkins didn´t overwhelmingly use foul tactics, like the jab and grab style of Ruiz to win fights, he used real boxing skills to win. I don´t hate fighters that fight boring fights, but I do hate fighters who use foul tactics all the time, who get gift decisions, whine about their losses and file protests about them all the time and have horrendously annoying people like Norm Stone around them.

Ruiz showed plenty of heart and determination last night and I will give him props for that.

But it would take a lot more than that to redeem himself in my eyes. It wasn't so much that he didn't employ his boring jab and grab style but that he couldn't. Ruiz style relies on him beating his opponent to the punch and then smothering any counter by initiating a hug. Haye, Jones Jr and Toney all had advantages in hand speed so were able to beat Ruiz to the punch so Ruiz could not employ his usual style against these fighters and so lost.

I hope Ruiz retires now he took a lot of punishment last night from a big puncher and clearly no longer has what it takes to compete with the top guys anymore.

Ruiz was not KOed. Actually, he was hit humerous times behind the head but the referee did not bother to warn Gaye.

Ruiz came to fight last night and was throwing more punches then clinching so I have to give him that. He went out on his shield rather then hugging so I give him props for that.

  12. Guess what, some of us yanks are clever like that and were able to watch both fights.

  13. I felt like posting a "WOOHOO Ruiz finally got beat decisively, maybe we'll never see him again" thread... but ya know, I actually felt interested in seeing him fight again after his performance vs. Haye. He really came to fight, and he kept trying to win late in the fight despite getting his ass handed to him. This wasn't nearly the same Ruiz who gave us PPV Hug-fests for 15 years.

Yeah, let's send this cheating disgrace into retirement the RIGHT way.

Good riddance!!! Thanks for cheating your opponents of their opportunity to win WITHIN the rules by using ILLEGAL excessive holding in every fight you "won" against a world class opponent.

Thanks for using King's influence and later Oscar's to get undeserved title shot after undeserved title shot!

Thanks for your superb overacting in the Thunder, second Holyfield and Johnson fights to get bogus "low blow" calls to get point deductions, avoid getting counted out and force DQs.

Oh, and thanks for expanding that in your (hopefully) last fight against Haye to complain about "rabbit punches" to try to get point deductions or force a DQ. Guess Haye wasn't hitting close enough to the beltline for your usual move, uh?

Thanks for using King's influence to get away with this **** and getting you that bogus gift decision against Golota after he had you on the deck twice and landed more punches.

Thanks for ripping off the fans of the fights they PAID to see by violating the rules against excessive holding, and turning boxing matches into bull**** wrestling matches.

And thanks for all the outside the ring whining, lawsuits to get undeserved title shots, and in general not appreciating that you were a talentless palooka who was lucky to sign with the right promoter.

Bye Ruiz. Please, please don't come back. You've disgraced boxing enough for one lifetime!!!:hi:
