A best of British welter scrap back in 1977. Stracey, who'd lost his world title to Carlos Palomino the previous year, got stopped by Green.

How much of this was down to Stracey having peaked already ? Or would 'Boy' Green always have had his number ?

It was a tough physical fight made harder for Stracey with a really big swelling over one of his eyes. The heads did crack a few times.

Stracey had had some hard fights, including the one against Palomino.Even the victory over Napoles a tough fight.Green just peaking.Maybe this made the difference,as I would say overall Stracey slightly the better.Just my opinion though.

It was touch-and-go for Dave for awhile here, his early aggression took John H right out of his stride, but after this initial swamping, John H started to come back into it, with Dave starting wind down...it looked finely balanced...But John wilted...and Dave was invigorated...

I do not however think this was the John H who marched down Hedge Lewis...
at their respective best i would Favour John H to ride out the storms and maybe stop Dave Boy Green Late...a younger John H would find him coming in with that right hand i feel
