Had Roy fought inactive Collins instead of Reggie, these same jokers would have been on here saying Roy ducked Reggie for beating him in sparring when they were younger, and was picking on a shot inactive fighter.... But since Roy made easy work of Reggie, He ducked inactive Collins to fight shot Reggie...

It never ends... Had he fought Chris Byrd instead of Ruiz, it would have been because he was picking the smaller fighter with the least KO ratio and was afraid of being mauled to death by Ruiz..

I can understand not being a fan of Roy, but people take their hate way too far.

Byrd had skills. Ruiz didn't. And with that referee Jones wasn't getting mauled Ruix wasn't allowed to get close to him for some reason :rofl:patsch

BTW Byrd was also a natural Middleweight who fought al the Heavyweights Wlad X2, Vitali, Ike, Tua, you name it. Jones was scared to do such.

    My point still stands...

Had Roy beat Byrd, you would be on here saying he was afraid of being mauled by Ruiz.

We have went over why Ruiz couldn't hold onto Roy, he was getting countered with the fastest shots he has ever seen that were hurting him while Roy was backing up. Roy's ring generalship was amazing in that fight, Foreman recognized it, but what does he know right?

I am glad you brought up Byrd being a MW.... Why is it his chin could hold up against all those mammoth HWs, but he got knocked out by a bum when he cut back to LHW?

Perhaps you should listen to the comeback interview he gave on his 30th birthday where he said he wanted both Roy Jones and James Toney as soon as possible!

Perhaps you should watch the recent sit down interview where he said fighting prime Jones and Toney would have been suicide. Toney-Eubank would have been a good fight... I think Jones would whip him, Jones was all wrong for Chris and he knew it. Jones was too fast, could get in and out.. Eubank wouldn't know what to do.

I didn't know Liles knocked Roy out in the ams..

But if he did like you say so what?

You are always hating on Roy for beating fighters past their best or before their best, would you say he was past his best when he fought Tarver? Would you say he was before his best when he fought Liles??

This is what I mean when I say your hatred for Roy shows strong...

Did you know Liles turned down a fight with prime Roy for big money?

In his prime he was untouchable and i do not think his late career run when he was obviously a shell of himself takes too much luster off that....BUT with that being said there are other ATG's who even when they aged they still won the big fights not all of them but won their share.....Roy hasn't and is the reason why i can't include him up there....once those god given gifts slowed down...he became a side show.

Funny but from I recall Gman couldn't spar for days because of the damage Jones did to his jaw but let you tell it :patsch

    Exactly!

    They'd never be satisfied.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, put Roy's resume up against any fighter from the same era, that fought in and around the same weight classes.

    Roy's got a good resume.

He dominated good competition, and it gave the impression that he fought nobody.

Boxing fans can be thick sometimes. A lot of people only go on the eye test.

If a guy's in an exciting back and forth fight, and he wins, it = A great fight, and a great win.

If a guy completely shuts some one down in a fight that's not competitive, it = A boring fight, and a win against nobody.

Roy is a victim of his own dominance, pure and simple.

Toney gets heaps of praise for the Jirov win.

Roy gets no praise whatsoever for beating Ruiz.

    Toney's win = "Wow! What a fight!"

Roy's win = "Boring, and it was worthless because he didn't fight Lewis!"

    ESB ******ed logic.

They'll praise Toney for beating a CW, but won't praise Roy for beating a HW.

They also don't allow for the fact, that Toney was fighting at CW back then because he couldn't make LHW.

Roy would have needed to fight 100 times to satisfy everyone.

I've even seen him get criticised for not fighting Vincenzo Nardiello, Darrin Van Horn and Ray Close. :patsch

I know who he is, but you're just name dropping.
