Sorry but I disagree, Ruiz and Griffin >>> Lacy and Kessler And bull****, Roy fouled Griffin because Griffin was fighting dirty himself.. Go back to the round right before Roy had him ready to go, Griffin elbowed Roy's chin up in the air and punched him when he saw the ref couldn't see it.. I really feel like that pissed Roy off. Plus, it was Griffin who wanted out of that fight, which is why he put on one of the worst acting jobs, right up there with DM over Rocky.. Disgracful clowns. The rematch tells you all you need to know, Roy had solved the puzzle of Griffin, and destroyed him in one... Griffin at that time was unbeaten, and ranked highly P4P.. Joe has never destroyed anyone like that.
Wow your are ******ed ,Griffen has a win over. Toney who at his worst is better than Lacy and Kessler combined ! Your really DKSAB!
At the time Roy iced Griffin in one round, he had already given James Toney and Roy Jones fits... Has Lacy ever given problems to fighters of that caliber?? Griffin at his very best was a very good fighter, with a low awkward style and good relfexes.. I don't think he was ever the same after being knocked out by Roy.. 168 Roy would have destroyed Lacy and Kessler, and people like Rico here would be on here preaching about how shitty Lacy and Kessler were.
Nunn, McCallum, Benn, McClellan, and Eubank would've all beaten him in '93. Hopkins would run him very close in '97. In history, Monzon would be awkward over 15 with his height, reach, ring generalship, timing, distance, composure and consistency. The 70s Hagler would be awkward, as would Herol Graham and Kalambay.
Well they were both shot.. I would expect a similar result with the Jones from the Toney fight vs. the Lacy from the Calzaghe fight. I don't think prime Kessler vs. Calzaghe had the skills to handle the Jones from the Toney fight either.
But Calzaghe was certainly not at his best against Kessler. I feel he was at his best against Sheika, Woodhall, Veit and Brewer.
Brewer was a very dangerous Philly fighter who was completely robbed against Echols after beating the **** out of him, the same Echols who gave Hopkins hell a few times. He was completely robbed against Ottke. And Roy Jones wanted nothing of Brewer in the 90s.
Woodhall was a better boxer than Kessler for me. And Sheika was a sharp guy back then, who did brilliant against a peak Glen Johnson.
To put the Kessler win in prospective he was WBC/WBA unified champion and was coming off several good KO wins. Jones would have NEVER attempted to fight such a fighter. Too much to risk for ole' Reluctant Roy. Roy would have wrote a note to the WBC and WBA and said he demanded Kessler be stripped and the titles along with the Ring Magazine belt that was up for grabs in that fight be handed over to him and asked that Richard Frazier be installed as his mandatory :roflatsch
James Toney did nothing at Super Middleweight but win the IBF trinket. That was it. James Toney is a HOFer (though many Boxing scribes are saying they won't vote for him because of his 2 failed PED tests) but he is not an ATG. Sorry.
You are completely making **** up now. This is getting sad.atsch James Toney was a much better fighter than Kessler, and beat much better fighters than Kessler, and Roy had no problem moving up in weight and shooling him.. What I just typed is reality, and it totally debunks your make belief scenario..:deal
