Yes, he would of got credit for beating Dariusz, but not enough to move him significantly higher than where he his now, on most peoples lists. It's not as though someone who ranks Roy top 50, would have ranked him top 20 if he'd have beaten Dariusz. But it's ironic you questioning what I've wrote, because you hate Roy that much, you yourself probably wouldn't have given him credit had he beaten him. You don't give Roy credit for Hopkins, Toney or Ruiz, saying that they were boring wins. So let's say that Roy had beaten Dariusz, you'd no doubt be posting on here, that Dariusz was just a WBO champ, who hadn't beaten anyone of note. A guy like you won't ever be satisfied. We've discussed the opponents that he didn't fight, 100 times. How many more times do we have to go through it? You say Roy didn't want to take the risk, but we know that Dariusz wouldn't leave Germany. Eubank didn't want the fight. Liles turned down 7 figures to fight Roy, even though he'd never had a 7 figure fight. At that point, his manager walked away from him. Hopkins priced himself out of the rematch in 2002. There's gaps on every fighters record. But you have no idea of the business side of things. None whatsoever. You automatically assume that if two guys don't fight, one of them ducked the other. Simply put, you're an idiot.
Um no because most fighters write letters to the ABC sanctioning bodies to MAKE fights happen not to PREVENT them. Well, not good ole Glass Jaw Roy he writes letters to prevent fights so he can go and fight garbageman, off duty police officers, bartenders and disabled veterans. Kessler was a very good accomplished unified Champion. I am not saying he was 'better' than Toney but as far as accomplishments in that weight class he sure was. Jones wouldn't risk a fight like that. You know it I know it Everybody knows it.
:rofl:rofl DM was undefeated and THE champion and you think Roy would not be held in high regard for taking that zero away? :huh Seriously? You would be listing it right with the Ruiz win as such a 'great' accomplishment and you know it. It would mean more than the Ruiz, Tarver and Griffin wins for damn sure. That is how bad Roy's resume is compared to other ATG's. You have to list John freakin' Ruiz and Montel Griffin as top wins atsch
No, I think you are full of **** as usual.. Fighters make the titles, not the other way around.. James Toney was BETTER than Kessler, and was much more of a risk for Jones, who was actually the underdog..I don't care what titles Kessler held, it doesn't make him better... Jones- Toney was for more than the IBF, you had two great prime MW fighters going at it to decide who was the pound for pound best.. If he took that risk, he would have taken the risk to fight Kessler, Roy has taken bigger risks than Kessler, and beaten better fighters than Kessler.. You are sounding really stupid now. Your logic has been dismissed.. You shouldn't let your hate for Roy Jones spew out so much that you get yourself into these stupid comparissons.
Lets keep Lacy out of it. Kessler has a better resume at Super Middleweight than both Jones and Toney. Sorry.
Roy dropping weight to fight Tarver who held two of the major belts at LHW was a much bigger risk for Roy than fighting Kessler in a weight he was already at... Not to mention, Tarver was a long tall rangy southpaw with a strong jab and good power, and had a lifetime dream of beating Roy and was not afraid at all... He was the exact kind of fighter Roy gets **** for ducking, as opposed to the basic orthadox Kessleratsch You really sound like a fool now Rico.
Toney's win over Nunn trumps all of Kesslers at super middle Jones win over Toney also shits on all of Kesslers' wins want to try again
Yes just like how Roy won the first Tarver fight and had PLENTY of time from the Ruiz fight to the 2nd Tarver fight to be adjusted yet you always blame it for Roy losing. If that was the case he would have lost in the first fight and not the 2nd. Jones simply has no Chin. None. This was proven over and over. He was a Glass Jawed fighter and it explains why he handpicked the majority of his fights. Explain to me why Jones would sit down and write a letter to a sanctioning body asking not to fight his mandatory. Who on earth does that? :rofl
Jones was there for what 6 whole fights? And beating Toney in a boring fight isn't close to what a guy that had 40 plus fights and was a unified and multiple time belt holder at that weight. You are delusional.
Oh I see because you weren't entertained it wasn't a good win ..Wow such sound logic :rofl All the guys mentioned are better boxers fighters and hall of famers than Kessler or Lacy could ever be ..Yet I'm delusional ..You should sell what your smoking.
Why do they? Are Jeff Lacy and Mikkel Kessler any better than Montell Griffin? I don't think so. There's nothing really between Kessler and Griffin. Both fighters fought at a similar level, and both were better than Lacy. Joe's performance against Lacy was fantastic. Absolutely brilliant! But Lacy wasn't a great fighter. Roy knocked Griffin out with a LEAD UPPERCUT in under three mins. Who the f**k knocks someone out with a lead uppercut? The only difference between Lacy and Griffin, was the hype. With regards to Kessler and Ruiz, both were big fights. Joe beat Kessler in a competitive fight to unify the division. Roy beat Ruiz easily, to win a version of the HW title at 34, after 50 fights, after been outweighed by over 20 pounds. Both were great wins, but I think Ruiz brought the bigger challenge. So how do you come to the conclusion that Joe's wins **** on Roy's?
I have no excuse for Roy getting knocked out by Tarver, other than I think Roy had lost a step, and had got lazy, throwing one shot at a time. He was not weight drained in Tarver 2, he was actually in better shape than when he beat Tarver. Also, we have been over that I don't think Roy's chin was always as bad, I think it faded with his reflexes and other attributes. I also read a while back a doctor explaining why taking a pounding while dehydrated can lower your punch resistance.. He took plenty of loaded up Tarver power shots in the first fight. As to writing letters, Roy was unified LHW champ, and it is hard to keep up with all the mandatories.
