I have a fun fact for you.. Can you believe that Roy Jones held the WBA HW World Championship and the Ring LHW Championship at the same time!!!:yikes:deal

    Insane feat.

Like I said what Roy did was the equivalent of Spinks moving up to Heavyweight and fighting Pinklon Thomas who was the trinket WBC champion instead of fighting THE Champion who was Larry Holmes.:rofl:patsch

You have a point... Moving up and beating Ruiz would not have been near as special had Roy started his career at LHW..

But that is not the case is it?

Spinks was THE Light Heavyweight Champion. He was Lineal, WBA, WBC, IBF, Light Heavyweight Champion. Jones never did that. Ever. Why? Because he was reluctant to make big challenging fights.

Spinks also was Lineal, Ring, and IBF Heavyweight Champion.

Spinks made History. Jones was too scared to attempt it at BOTH Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight :rofl

Doesn't matter if he started at 147 he didn't fight THE champion.

    So its history.:good

'belts' is the key word. They were trinkets. Meaningless. Being THE Champion is what matters. What Jones did isn't the same as what Fitzsimmons or SRR or Armstrong etc. It simply isn't the same. It is smoke and mirrors. Those fighters didn't have the luxury of jumping divisions and picking out the weakest 'beltholders' to call themselves a 'champion'. They had to move up and fight THE champion no matter how big, fast, skilled, etc. :hi:

I don't even know why I bother responding to you.

You're dismissing Ruiz as a nobody, while at the same time, trying to pretend that Kessler was some sort of an unbeaten and unified monster.

Mikkel Kessler is a very good fighter. He's not elite, but he's very good. But let's not pretend he came into the ring against Joe having beaten top class opposition. He beat decent fighters like Mundine, Sciaca and Beyer etc.

Once again, Joe fought him at his own weight class.

John Ruiz wasn't a great HW. You could even go as far as saying he wasn't a very good HW. But he was a decent HW, who outweighed Roy by over 20 pounds, coming off of wins against Holyfield, who he'd dropped. He wasn't pleasing to watch, but he was tough and effective.

You say that he had no power, which is laughable! He was a f***ing HW! Roy was a 34 year old LHW, who according to you had a glass chin.

So you can't have it both ways. We know Roy got knocked out by Tarver and Glen Johnson. So are you going to pretend that those two hit harder than Ruiz?

A glass jawed LHW, vs a 16 stone HW = An easy, no risk fight??

Ruiz was a far bigger risk to Roy, than what Kessler was to Joe.

    You really are an idiot.

Ruiz couldn't clinch, because of Roy's speed in the centre of the ring.

Also, how many more times are you going to say that Roy hand picked him?? :patsch

Everybody has different circumstances you moron!

Roy fought everyone who mattered at LHW apart from Dariusz M. Roy wouldn't go to Germany, and Dariusz wouldn't leave Germany.

Why do you keep saying he was reluctant to make big fights.

    1. He HAD big fights.

    2. We've seen numerous links and videos that support that fact that he tried to fight Dariusz in America, and he offered Liles a great deal.

Roy Jones didn't pick Bernard Hopkins, they fought for a vacant belt.. Hopkins was actually ranked higher. And didn't lose again for a very long time.

When Roy moved up and beat James Toney, did he pick the weakest beltholder then? I believe Toney was one of the best fighters not only at SMW but on the planet.

When he moved down to LHW to fight Tarver, did he pick the weakest then? or should he have waited to see Gonzalez and DM settle their business and fight THE Champ?:patsch

You give Roy credit for nothing. And no matter what he did with his career, you would always have something negative to say, you are a genuine hater, and I admit you do have good boxing knowledge, but when it comes to Roy you are just twisted and silly.:yep:good
