No, I'm comparing the circumstances. Roy didn't want to fight Nunn and Collins. So seeing as though you think he feared Nunn, I was asking you if you think he also feared Collins?
You've got some great knowledge about boxing, and I enjoy reading your posts. But you let yourself down by these types of comments. 1. Boxing is a BUSINESS. 2. Everyone's circumstances were different. We know that Eubank didn't want any of the top U.S. guys. He's admitted that on numerous occasions. Why fight Nunn for $1.8m, when you can fight Hill for $3m? Nunn didn't bring huge money or a title. If Roy had swerved him for huge money or a title opportunity, then I'd agree that he feared him. But from 97-99, Roy picked up two titles, that included unifying the division, and he made some great money. He also received a Rolls Royce as a gift just prior to fighting Hill. He didn't need to fight Nunn. Whereas Nunn was past his best, losing to Roch in Germany.
Eubank and Lamar Parks were more talented than Roy? Gerald was a wrecking machine, but he wasn't as talented as Roy. I wouldn't say Reggie was either. Nunn and Mike in his prime, yes.
No, Nunn, Eubank, McClellan, Parks, Mike and Reggie were far more talented than Collins, Benn, Liles, Michalczewski and Holyfield.
Reggie was a bit past his best, but that crisp one two Roy put him down with was one of the most amazing things I have seen in a boxing ring.. Hard for me to say Reggie was ever as talented as Roy.
Prime Reggie could not have defended or avoided that one two Roy landed on him.:deal Last word? Didn't you say Roy didn't know how to punch? Show me a video of Eubank, Reggie or Toney that come remotely close to that.... I say go watch that fight, maybe you have forgotten.:yep:good
Roy wouldn't have the opening to throw that blinding one-two from that position against a prime, much more mobile, faster-off-the-mark Reggie.
RJJ is one of my all-time faves. I think going up to heavyweight and then back down was too much on him at that stage of his career.
