Better question. When have you ever seen Dawson get hit with a punch like that???

Calzaghe isn't really a defencive wiz.

You're the biggest ****ing moron on ESB if you think the Jones that fought Calzaghe has any shot at beating Dawson. You're just a Dawson hater, please STFU and quit making stupid threads from now on. As for why Dawson didn't knock out Harding or Tarver, maybe it's because they have iron chins and there really tough? Now you're talking about sucking cocks you're a ****ing dick riding ******.

This could perhaps be a closer fight than many think. The longer it takes Dawson to smother Jones, the more sharp and dangerous Jones will be.
But lets also not forget that Dawson himself has better tools than Jones at this point in time.

Of course it's more likely that Dawson would dictate Jones right from the start, but there would be more of a chance of Jones landing big on him then imo, but once Dawson wears him down (it'd take longer than it took Calzaghe I think), I think it'd be one way traffic, and Dawson would probably stop him.

Dawson is young, skilled, improving as he fights on, fast and slick.

Jones on the other hand, is just SHOT, only a shade of his former self. So a lengthy analysis about this possible fight isn't really necessary, imo. I don't see a KO in this one, so it will be a points win. And there's no way this version of Jones beats Dawson on points. :good

Jones would get stopped, at his peak he would've whipped Dawson though.

Jones takes the first 2-3 rounds and everyone starts getting back on the "He's not shot! He's back!" train..then the train goes right over a cliff as Dawson takes pretty much the rest of the fight.

Jones isn't a threat to anyone above...B- ish level at LHW.

Dawson went toe to toe punch for punch with Glen Johnson. He has taken big shots and got right the **** back up and won that same round. You really dont have **** to stand on but a pile of ****.

PFFFFF:rofl Oh yeah, b/c Joe is such a big hitter. Dawson hits harder and is damn for sure a better and harder body puncher. And Dawson actually lands majority of his punches.

I have my doubts that Jones would even win the first rounds, as I guess that Dawson would be extra-cautious early on, knowing that Roy's only real chance would be at an early stage of the fight.

Yep, sadly Jones is B-level right now... sad :|

Because Joe can implement pressure more successfully than Dawson can at this point in time. Also, it's the style that suits Joe more. Dawson still has the luxury of being able to sith back and beating Jones at distance.

I know it's not your point buuut he would..at ease. He probably takes Jones to school on the ropes as well. He's also probably faster than Jones at this point...and if Jones is down after 7 or so, Hello Sparring Partner Mode.

People picking Jones are doing so because they're either a)Hung up on their irrational hatred for Dawson (as one person who did is) or b) Hung up on nostalgia (as most of the rest are).

Roy Jones Jr has lost everything that made him a great fighter. This isn't Bernard Hopkins re-inventing himself to turn from a brawler to a defensive foul artist to a smart counter punching in-ring terrorist.

To give a Teddy Atlas-ism...This is like watching Ricky Henderson try to steal a base at 50 years old....except the base is punching him in the face.
