Round 6 was a close round. Mayweather hit a lot of glove and shoulders in that round that the fine people over at Shostats will have us know were scoring shots. Like in the recent Garcia fight: a hook that has a glove between the target and the fist when connecting is not a scoring power punch. Period. A lot bouncing off the shoulder as well. There is no way he had more than 45% connect in this fight.
7, 9 and 10 were the only clear Mayweather rounds for me. 11 and 12 were close rounds.

What are the scoring criteria in your view and in what order?

I had it 7-5 Mayweather btw.

They have to investigate the nut that scored it 117:111 for Mayweather.

    4 points in scoring
Ring generalship - pretty close in this area both fighters had their moments where they were in charge.
Effective aggression-Maidana had the edge in this category although a lot of his aggression was not effective.
Clean punching - Floyd by far had the cleaner shots. Maidanna work was sloppy at times .
Defense - Again floyd dominated this category. Floyd landed 65% of his power shot so maidana had very little defense.
So 2 categories are close and 2 are heavily in Floyd's favor.
Obviously Floyd won the fight but must give a lot of credit to Maidana. He did the best anyone has in many years.
A rematch would be ugly. Floyd would be much better second time out. Maidana should move on. Now everyone see his performance as great, why tarnish it by getting schooled in a rematch?

It's a little more nuanced than that.

I would lay waste to your pathetic outlook, but you scored the fight a draw. You're not even worth responding to. And remember...from now on your future scorecards are discredited from the door.

Whenever Floyd held Chino.......he threw no less than 3 strong hooks to the body. Weeks promptly brokem up, but that was the difference between Floyd winning and Floyd losing.

If Weeks allowed Chino to continue to work his free hand, the power shots woulda went from 3 each time, to 7,8, maybe 10 each time with nothing coming back except the occasionally elbow or forearm.

when I first scored the fight I had Chino ahead 7-5. The Showtime commentators were praising Chino for shots that were grazing or missing outright.
I rewatched on DVR, pausing and slomo-ing the inside exchanges, which Chino clearly had the upper hand.
I counted minutes/seconds in the exchanges and punches thrown/landed and whether they were clean or countered.

In the end, I f/n scored the fight to Floyd. His work on the outside with his lead R hand and his thumping jab to the solarplexus, were masterful.

My final score was 6 clear rds to Floyd. 4 clear rds to Chino. 2 coulda swung either way, so I scored em even.

    116-114 RMJ :fight

Anybody who watched the fight wouldn't be asking what Maidana landed.

If you were too stupid to follow the action in the ring, there were sloooow motion zoomed in replays of Maidana landing clean shots on broadcast.
