    I want a good discussion about this lad because I don't think people are noticing just how big a talent he is. I was laughed at the other day when I said I thought he could be better than Naz. He might not have the same Raw talent and distructive power as Naz but with a better attitude and good commitment I see no reason why he can't achieve more. His track record at British Level is unreal for such a young kid;

    First he takes the vacant British title which has been stripped from an injured Kev Mcintyre against Barrie Jones (who was an exciting prospect and lost to Mbaye by a point in his next fight). He dealt with Jones easily, eventually stopping him in the 7th. That itself is a pretty impressive feat.

    Next he takes on the rightful holder of the British belt, Kevin Mcintyre who had beaten Kevin Anderson twice and also beat Tony Doherty. Most would have looked at that and thought that Kell would be a slight favorite and would win maybe wide on points. Kell went in and looked classes above Kevin, barely even getting hit, countering him and knocking him out in the first round. That is one hell of a result.

    Next is a voluntary defense against Stuart Elwell, someone who wasn't proper British title level but never the less would have probably taken most British Champions to the second half of the fight. Brook barely breaks a sweat and puts on another masterclass to Knock him out in the second round.

    Finally we have Michael Lomax, winner prize fighter. You would expect him to give him a decent fight but again Lomax is out classed and stopped in three rounds.

    For someone who isn't an aggressive fighter and doesn't go for the knock out, that's quite a record.

    He is a great talent, who still has business to deal with on the domestic scene before moving on.

    I am a big fan of his and believe he will go far and a potential Jenning's fight will be an indicator as to how far he can go.

    Very big fan of his to be honest. Would like to see him go for a Euro belt or definately a harder couple of fights before going in with Jennings. But he's seems a nice lad and wish him the best of luck.

    Can anyone think of any other orthodox fighter who has had the "misfortune", if that's what it is, to be matched against all southpaws from gaining the title to winning the Lonsdale belt outright?

    I have searched the records and can't find a single one.

    Kell has yet to be matched against an orthodox fighter as the British Welterweight champion.

    He has looked good so far, but he needs to be put in with someone with a combination of a half decent dig and a chin as good as 'not glass'.

    Elwell was a joke opponent, anything less than an early stoppage wpuld have been a negative.

    He looks very composed, has a great jab, good timing and a sound defence (unlike the typical Ingle fighters) and appears to have a decent chin. He is more keen to plant his feet and use upper body movement than use his feet to get out of the way, this is part of the reason for his good power, but he manages to pull it off very well (at this level at least).

    He also has fast hands when he wants to. I'll be interested to see what his work rate and stamina are like, if those boxes can be ticked then we have a really promising versatile prospect.

    Would I be insane to suggest that he is similar to Gamboa in a few ways? The main differences being that Kell is a bit more defensive, wastes less energy and appears to be able to take a shot better. Gamboa is a bit faster and has quicker upper body movement. Hmm, not sure about that one now that I have typed it out!
