At that time Arum and Dunkin were still trying to pressure KP into staying at 160. That's out of the question now. Personally, I think he should have moved to 168 back in 2006 when he originally planned to.

Under the current circumstances I wouldn't mind if he did a couple catchweight fights at around 170. He should keep an open mind about his options at 168 or 175. In my opinion a focused and determined Kelly Pavlik would eat Tavoris Cloud.

Hope he has a good comeback. He just needs to bowl over a few chumps to shake off the rust and get his confidence back. He needs to forget about the mandatory for the moment and avoid a tough, hard hitting target like Froch until he's back at 100%.

All of us hard core fans should be pulling for Froch to win the S-6, and for Pavlik to look good in a tune-up and then stop Bute. (I say stop Bute because I don't think KP could beat him on points.) Anyway, can you imagine the current version of Froch against the best Pavlik we've ever seen? Fight of the decade potential!

I am sure Carl Froch would like to extend out his hand and welcome Pavlick to the SMW division with a left hook!

Of course I want to see Pavlik make a stronge come-back. In his prime he was a very good fighter, and if we can see him at his best again, then that can only be good for us fans. There are some great fights to make at 168 if he's as effective there as he was at 160.

i don't mind that idea one bit. if he is solid and feels good at a higher weight then he should. i also think if he is really on his game he would beat cloud.

i will say that, while its true that he was probably ready for a move up in weight a long time ago, had he made the move he would have foregone what turns out to be the high point of his career...that being leaving the reigning mw champ slumped in a corner.

I think the 175 is the best division for him. If he get's himself in a good shape he should be able to beat most of the champions there.

Pavlik turned bro shortly after he turned 18. For a growing kid there comes a time when cutting weight is detrimental rather than beneficial. Based on historical and video evidence I believe KP passed that point before he ever hit the big time. Weight drain was a factor in both the Zuniga and McKart fights in 2005 and 2006.

I've made a couple embarrassing predictions about Pavlik, but I also made several that were spot on. Years ago I predicted that 168 would be Pavlik's best division. Hopefully we'll find out how good or bad that prediction was by the end of this year.
