He wasn't looking great, but he is coming off a long layoff with a lot of personal problems. I still think he needs a few more fights to shake the webs. Hope he has three our for fights within the next twelve months then go for it. Why wait 4 months for another fight, hes been so inactive the last few years as it is...

If the Pavlik comeback isn the joke i think it is, then what needs to happen is this...

Firstly.. another 10 rounder in july. Then he needs to fight Mikkel Kessler in Autumn. They are both coming off a longish layoff. We will see what both have left and where they can both go in this division.

The winner of that (i say Kessler) should then fight Bute early next year.

The winner of that should face Frochafter he wins the Super 6....to be crowned the absolute undisputed best 168 in the world

Pavlik should fight every few months, agreed, but  at assuming Froch is just going to walk through the Super 6. At this point Ward has to be the favorite.

You think Kelly lost? hmmm, I have to see this fight again. Kelly was very rusty and I was in the midst of a fight party and got sidelined. I didn't get a chance to watch it as closely as I normally would.

After I watched it again it was clear to me Kelly won, but When i watched it LIVE a BW3's The 200 of us that were there were all on the same page thinking he lost..

Lopez IMO landed more punches but weren't as clean

Pavlik Hit him LESS but Were Solid Shots

I didn't Realise at the time they count Pavliks Less But Clean shots Better than Lopez grazing shots that didnt do anything

Something Pavlik needs to work on imo, is moving his head off the line when someone is punching at him, cause he's prone to getting disorganized when combinations are put on him, he doesn't move his upperbody left or right to avoid, he just leaves his head on the line and tries to cup his right hand around his head, both Lopez and Martinez exploited this by following up their attacks and keeping the combinations flowing.

I felt Pavlik's counter left worked well, but that he was aided by Lopez in a sense, because even though Lopez would use movement, he wouldn't actually create an angle to shoot in with his attack, he would just move, then attack on the line, I felt it was inevitable that the left hook was gonna start landing once Kelly cottoned onto it, and he did, which I guess is a positive.

I reserve judgement on this fight, give him the benefit of the doubt.

In the sparring video I saw Pavlik was working almost exclusively with his left hand. The attacking and countering with the left hook was something they planned for.

Bernstien sounded like a complete moron when he went on and on about KP's new weapon. Watch the Miranda and Rubio fights. KP has actually had fights where he did MORE with the left hook.

In my opinion this was one of those fights where scoring is a bit odd. On a round by round basis the two judges who had it 98-92 and 99-91 were spot on. However, Lopez had lots of 15-20 second spots where he looked good, and some rounds were close.

4 or five rds could have went either way depending how u look at it! Just like me, I thought he flat out lost until i watched it again. I thought it was more of a 97-93 96-94 but could have easily gave 10-10 in a few rds. Your Right though, Lopez Would explode some combos 4 15 secs, then bounce around trying to avoid Kellys 1-2

The rules of scoring don't leave as much ambiguity as some folks sometimes suggest. You place a strong emphasis on clean-effective punching, and ring generalship. Following the scoring rules is what made Pavlik/Lopez a very wide decision.

There were frequent exchanges where Lopez would throw a 6 or 7 punch flurry, but miss 4 times and barely make contact twice. Kelly would retaliate with 1, 2, or 3 hard shots. The guy throwing the hard-clean shots wins those kind of exchanges.
