I guess one more "tune-up" type fight is the plan. At least Jack Leow made it sound that way in a recent interview.

I think that's the smart move. :good

Hope they get it done and out of the way quickly, though. A long layoff between fights would defeat the purpose of knocking any remaining rust off and sharpening things up for another run at the top.

I guess it depends on what you consider 'tune up'. One level from the top guys? Like a Stieglitz? :D

I hope that's true. Kelly has a lot of pride and I'm sure hates being an undercard fighter, but he's still young and needs to view this comeback as a process. A step-up fight and impressive showing should put him in position to take on one of the division's big guns.

i feel sorry for kelly i do like him that right hand he took Taylors head off and some shots against Miranda( where he was underdog think was undercard to taylor spinks?) but he has looked really really awful for a while now. his boxing is limited he telegraphs his one twos and i think if he doesnt improve hes going to get ruined and i mean ruined by a top 168 fighter.

always wondered if Steward could turn Kelly into a wrecking machine again using his reach and jab to setr up bombs,

Im not gonna hate on Jack Loew. I think any "World Class" Trainer Would turn Kelly Into a Wrecking MAchine. Atlas, Roach, Steward.

At least I would hire one for 4 weeks of the Training Camp. Obviously Loew Got the whole Build your strength Part of the Training down. So bring someone in who knows combos and hand/foot speed

i would encourage anyone who thinks manny and kelly would be a good fit to listen to manny's comments about kelly prior to the taylor fight. he was literally laughing at him and ripping on the guy hard. kelly had the last laugh but i doubt the two would get on that well.

loew was giving him good advice in the last fight. kelly just didnt have the timing back to do it. i wouldnt be pissed if he actually sparred a few rounds with hopkins and took some pointers like bernard said he wanted to do. he could learn a lot from that...more so than he ever would from another trainer. kelly is gonna stick w/ jack no matter what and at the end of the day they have actually done quite well for themselves.

But after He KO'd Taylor, steward talked great about Kelly, Even was a announcer on a fight or 2 after him, Cant remember which ones, but Larry Merchant was with him. Who also said Kelly was the hardest hitting MIddleweight that he has ever seen..

i keep looking at that avatar pic hoping that they work on getting that right in position to follow that left down the pipe in his next fight. so many times i was waiting for it to happen in the last fight but he just wasnt in position to do it. it was wide open. lopez was stunned by the left a few times and no right followed it for the most part. he won that fight with basically his left hand....a very overlooked upside to a fight that he is getting ripped about.

I know. Were used to seeing him Taste Blood and Let his Right Go.

I was just in shock when i watched it live, truely believed he looked like crap until I watch it again and seen that the Jab and Left hook is what won him the fight!
