The Kelly Pavlik Come Back Express: Who's on board?

I've watched Pavlik/Lopez 6 times. Of course some of you may question my sanity for watching a fight like that so many times, but I wanted to make sure I know what I'm talking about.

When I read the comments on that fight I notice a lot of posts from two groups of posters. One group is the same bunch of haters that is still pissed off about KP running over their pet monster in May 2007. If Kelly beat Godzilla 120-108, those guys would still find reasons to hate on him. It's useless to talk to them.

Another group fails to differentiate between a poor performance, and a straight up ugly fight. It was Lopez that stunk the joint up, not KP. Lopez is obviously a better fighter than his obscure status and padded record indicated, but after 2 or 3 rounds Lopez spent an awful lot of time trying not to fight: running, clinching, complaining, et.

This was the biggest guy KP ever fought, and Pav was carrying more weight than he ever carried before. Kelly was coming off a 2 year hard luck streak, alcohol treatment, and 13 months without a fight. Even under those conditions Pavlik still won damn near every round. If it had been a 12 rounder, Alfonso would not have made the distance.

 

Winky Wright is flapping his gums about KP AGAIN. Winky has had half a dozen opportunities to fight Pavlik, but he always found some reason not to. Now days this fight is way past it's expiration date, but I would not mind if it finally happens.

KP is usually very respectful toward other fighters, but I've heard him absolutely trash Winky. I'm sure Pav would take the fight. Now we just need to hope Winky wants to do something besides run his mouth.
