Hes great for boxing and should make for only entertaining fights. I really hope he sorts out any problems he's had and comes back into the ring strong

a fight against Vera at 168 is a great way to start off his comeback

“If it was up to Kelly, he’d fight for a world title that night,” Loew said. “I don’t see it being an extremely big name, but I also don’t see us fighting a no-name. That’s not going to do us any good either.”

Yes it does. If you look at my top tier, I think you'll agree that on a night when the stars and planets align just right, any one of those guys is capable of beating any of the others.

If you look at my list of "tough guys," any one of those guys is capable of sending a good prospect back to the gym to rethink his game plan.

As far as the prospects/contenders go, some of them have really padded records, but you just never know how good a guy like that is until you stick him in with a Brinkley/Zuniga/Miranda type fighter.

The IBF inaugurated the super middleweight division in 1984. Murray Sutherland was the very first world champion. For a long time after that the division consisted mainly of obscure europeans, and Americans who were just passing through on the way to LHW.

Sometime back Bob Arum said he thought the SMW division was on the verge of becoming the kind of flagship division middleweight used to be. I think Arum was right.

    Imagine this fight card scenario:

Zuniga/Miranda in a long over due crowd pleaser.

DeGale/Marcus Johnson in some kind of title eliminator.

Pavlik/Andrade in a WBO title fight.

Bute/Dirrell in an IBF title bout.

    Ward/Froch in a WBC/WBA ttle fight.

This is the sort of thing that would put the SMW division on the map, especailly with the CBS promotional machine behind it. Ultimately all of boxing would benefit.

He lost to the current #3 P4P and an ATG. What a disgusting American hype job.

i'm not happy with how he has looked either. but he's out of rehab, jsmips said he's motivated, he's only 28 and given the effort he's always put forth including, as you noted, becoming the linear mw champ...if wants to take another crack at it i feel he's earned the right.

I'd very much like to see Pavlik make a good comeback.
    Why?
I believe he has skills, but was steered in the wrong direction when his handlers allowed him to face Hopkins.
Coming off of his highly questionable lost to the white BOYS, Hopkins was ready to kick somebodies ass, and since Calzaghe ran straight for the pipe, that ass whopping got pushed over to Pacvlik.
Pavlik still has a lot of potential, plus he is a nice guy. :yep

Pavlik epitomised whats good about boxing. He had great heart, he took on all-comers, never talked **** about his opponents and respected the fight game. He's your classic tough kid over-achiever.
Unfortunately he had /has his problems but i hope he can come back and challenge for a title. His fights were always exciting.
