Yes, I do. I was wrong about how far past-prime Hopkins was. I give Joe more credit now for his performance as Hopkins is not as far past-prime as I believed he was. And so to me, Joe's resume has improved and therefore his all-time pound-for-pound standing. I still did score the fight to Hopkins by a point, but for Calzaghe to make it so close with a Master Boxer like Hopkins shows I have been underrating Joe a bit.

I was talking about Hopkins when I said past prime tho after seeing him beat Pavlik, not quite as past prime as I thought & yes, you are one smart man because Hopkins is indeed older.

Lacy is Jeff Lacy... a powerfull puncher that many favoured to KO Calzaghe even calling him the mini-tyson.

Kessler is Mikkel Kessler... an even better fighter than Lacy & arguably the best fighter at 168.

Both were undefeated & 28 yrs old when mid-30s Calzaghe beat them.

    Hope Ive helped you out.

    I think so too.

This was one of the better fights of recent times and one of Calzaghe's best performances, even though Kessler underperformed slightly.

There will be no proof of Calzaghe's greatness as to some he beat an 'overhyped' Lacy a 'underperforming' Kessler and a 'past it' Hopkins - not sure why he actually bothers fighting people - everyone he beats will get a tag of 'unworthy' and Calzaghe will never get credit.

Not sure boxers in the past faced as much scrutiny as they do now.

To be fair Calzaghe is kind of passed it now and I think for years since his hands couldnt pack the power they used to for fear of crumbling he has survived pretty well for a boxer missing a fairly crucial weapon that he used to have.

I think partly the hate is due to him not being that likeable a character but I kind of agree that the years under warren might have helped him stay undefeated but didnt really help him become a legend in the mass public's eyes.

Not too sure this Kessler fights proves too much but maybe if Kessler goes on to be dominant then that might prove something. Though at that point which may or may not happen people will want a retired Calzaghe to have a rematch. Although not conclusive I do think the recent wins by kessler and hopkins at least reflect a little favourably on Calzaghe being darn good.

    Agreed.

I honestly think this was one of the greatest wins in recent time. Calzaghe had a lot to lose, and Kessler was about as dangerous an opponent he could've faced. This fight made me a Calzaghe fan and believer.

Both undefeated and in good form.
    Both put on good performances.
Good combination of skill and action.
This fight is a personal favorite despite my fav boxer losing.

Cotto vs. Margarito was another great match-up. Those fights where its hard to discredit either boxer.

thats why i think he is the best after calzaghe, as i dnt see another smart/adaptable, clever fighter around. He may stuggle against fighters with great movement but he was not exactly outclassed by calzaghe he still gave calzaghe a tough fight

Calzaghe was a comfortable favourite to beat Robo-Kessler.

    Nice try though.

I subscribe to that idea totally. You have to ask yourself what comes first.

What comes first? Resumes or good fights.

How do you build a resume? You do that by fighting good fights.

Yeah, you say, but those fights has to be against fighters that has good resumes.

True but how did those fighters attain their resumes. Answer: by fighting well.

What comes first. Ask yourself that. I dont expect you to understand any of this. Most people cant think anyway.

Maybe I can illustrate it for you.

Do this FIRST :bbb And LATER attain :deal Your resume.
